What Chris didn't tell Isla was that while she called, Chris was with Scar.

He'd immediately abandoned her to go get Isla, to which Scar was pretty annoyed. But he didn't care, all he was worried about in that moment was if Isla was okay.

The other reason why he ditched Scar that night was because he didn't tell Isla he was dating her yet. He didn't know how to, it would be so awkward for him.

Part of him didn't exactly know why he was even dating Scar in the first place, he didn't even truly like her. He liked the fact that she could distract him about Isla when she kissed him. Basically, he liked the idea of her.

He would never admit this to anybody, and as horrible as it sounds, but sometimes when he kissed her he imagined it was Isla. Not exactly imagined it was her, but when he had his hands around Scar's waist and his lips pressed against hers, he couldn't help it but think of Isla. It sounded horrible, be he truly couldn't help it. She overtook his every thoughts.

"We're almost here." Chris assured Isla on the phone, as he told Matt to hurry the fuck up even though he was already speeding.

"Okay." Isla nodded.

"Shit. I just realized I forgot to tell you guys.." Isla started.

"What?" Matt and Chris both asked at the same time.

"I'm not actually at my house."

"Well, you should've told me that sooner." Matt muttered.

"Where are you, Iz?" Chris asked.

"I'm at Markus's.." Isla admitted shyly.

Chris and Matt shared a glance.

"Okay.. just send me the address." Matt said.

"Done." Isla replied.

As the two pulled up to Markus's house, Chris already wanted to get the fuck out of there. He hated Markus, and didn't want Markus to see him outside of his house. Chris was confused though, on why Isla was sitting alone on her boyfriend's porch.

"Hey." Matt greeted, giving Isla a soft smile as she hopped into the backseat of the minivan.

"Hey." Isla smiled back, but Chris could tell something was wrong. She was clearly upset about something.

He knew how to read her like a book, he learned how to after knowing her so well for all these years. He could tell when she was sad, annoyed, excited, whatever she was feeling he could always tell. He took pride in that, as he could always comfort her.

The drive back to the Sturniolo's was silent.

Once Isla got into their house, Chris turned to her.

"Do you wanna go to my room?"

"Sure."

Once they arrived at his room, they laid in his bed together and he put his arm around her.

"So Iz, tell me what's wrong." Chris looked down at her.

Isla sighed.

"Was it your step dad?" Chris asked.

"No. Well, actually yeah. Kind of." Isla shrugged.

"Okay. Do you want to talk about it or no?"

"I want to." Isla nodded.

"It's a long story but my dad came home wasted and then Markus came over because he forgot a hoodie at my house from before. I didn't want my step dad to see him, and I thought I made sure he didn't. I never told him about Markus because I just didn't know how he would react. Anyways, as I'm walking back inside he stopped me and told me to stay away from Markus. And as you know, there's no arguing with him. It's no use, it'd get me nowhere. And so I realized I needed to call it off with Markus, and so I walked to his house to do so. Once I got there I told him about what happened and he kind of started to freak out.. he got mad and said I wasn't 'fighting for him' or whatever which wasn't true. I told him about how my dad would get mad, but he just didn't understand." Isla vented, and she could start to feel the tears come up again. She blinked them away.
