"Not from us either!" Gabriel suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Followed by Elijah, Emily and Nicholas.

The four of them met back at the parking lot when they couldn't find any of the two. It was Emily who suggested that they check in the forest since the two were there last night. Nicholas refused to go first saying they're probably busy but the others had a bad feeling so they insisted on looking for the pair.

The four had been hiding the whole time since Shadow grabbed her bag and pulled out the dagger. Elijah thought she was gonna strike Bright so he was about to stop her but Gabriel stopped him and warned him to stay quiet. He had observed from Bright that he has a strong and keen sense so any major movement might alert the vampire of their presence.

They stayed quiet and just watched. Eventually hearing the truth the two had been hiding.

Bright was beyond speechless realizing it's not just Gabriel who heard them. But also Elijah and Nicholas. He felt so anxious while scanning their reaction. Elijah and Gabriel are both furious while Nicholas and Emily are equally shocked.

"So this is why you've been acting so different from us. You're the lost heir!" Gabriel exclaimed.

"You're his friend, Gabriel! You can't tell anyone!" Shadow said almost right away as she stood protectively in front of her mate.

"Why not?! If we turn him in, we'll have access to the whole Blood Empire!" The nomad exclaimed while eyeing Bright like a fresh target.

"No! Don't be like this, Gab!" Nicholas also ran to block Bright. "I know things aren't easy for you. But if you turn him in to the wolves, you won't be any different from them!" He added.

"Shut up! You have no idea what it's like to be like us so you have no say in this!"

"So you'll betray him!?" Elijah finally spoke and pulled Gabriel to face him. "There's no gold on earth that will be worth enough in exchange of you betraying your friend!" He said yelling to his face.

"I never planned to deceive any of you." Bright spoke catching everyone's attention. "I only planned to experience a single night in school. To see how much the world had evolved while I was hiding."

"Meeting you all was never part of my plan but it's what made me stay. Because I wanted to protect all of you."

"Protect us? Wake up, Bright! You're already a mate to one of them. It's always been them who's making our lives horrible!" Gabriel yelled in frustration while pointing at Shadow.

"Do you really believe her that she won't turn you in? That she would betray her family for you?! She could not even fight for Elijah when they broke up and they've known each other since they were kids! You think you're any different when you two just met?!"

"That's it! I'm so sick of you!" Shadow finally gave in and suddenly grabbed the nomad, pinning him to the ground. Elijah and Bright immediately tried to stop her while Nicholas pulled Emily away from their fight.

"I'm not Raze you fu**ing bastard! If you are so angry at us then why are you even friends with Elijah! Why didn't you become a hunter instead so you could fu**ing turn Bright in!? You're a fu**ing coward! All you do is bloody whine!!!" Shadow was screaming at his face despite Bright's pleas for her to stop.

Bright wrapped his arms on her waist and used his strength to rip her away from Gabriel who is now crying while still on the ground.

"Stop it, Shadow! This isn't gonna make him feel better!"

"Well I don't want him to feel better! I want him to feel more fu**ing horrible!" Shadow screamed and was about to run to Gabriel again but Bright stopped her.
