SPELLBOUND!

Spellbound

As twigs break beneath my feet, no longer
will I waste another moment of dawn or dusk,

the green of sage and golden willow stretch the wayward slope
and line the distracted mind with wildflowers
and husks of sweetbriar vellum,

my thoughts unchaperoned dancing with nature’s wild abandon,
like tawny flattened leaves and amber drippings of foliaged trees,

until spellbound moonlight
holding hands with stardust
make the night all the more alluring.

My tears once pressed against the windowpane
dreaming down a river,
heavy as an anchor
waiting for the sun,

instead found serenity tangled within the clouds,
embracing each footstep upon the pavement,

come torrential rain or shine,
each day a blessing,
each moment somehow lost or found
lined with pleasure or pain,
framed in its own poetry.

Crimson are the sunsets.
Incandescent, the soul.

The koi invite me to enjoy the creases of the pond
before night falls.

Even without the filter of moonlight,
the pond’s reflection seems unblemished,
etched in the tranquility of its own rhyme

and moments of alluring beauty,
holding time suspended around me
in spellbound awe and admiration.
