When I woke up dad screamed a few things... I didn't hear but I went into the living room was. He was on the phone. "Well, you better goddam save me then. If you don't... I'd... I have to kill you or something..." He turned around to see me standing. "... It's a joke." He whispered to me but I knew it wasn't.

Dad and I drove to the carnival. "It's open all day?" I asked.

"Mhm. People rush for today though."

"Why?"

"Because they heard a cowgirl was gonna sing."

"Who?"

"A girl. She came to the city." He smiled.

"Please don't tell me it's me."

"Your mother said you were good."

"Is that why we had to go?"

"That and I have business there."

"Well, I don't have instruments."

"Don't worry your mother sent me the lyrics you wrote along with the instrumental part that your country band wrote."

"Ugh!"

"Your band is here so don't worry."

"Really... Why did you do that?"

"C'mon- were here." He hopped out of the car.

"Great," I whisper. I look at a pamphlet in the car.

Country singer?

I didn't wanna look at it. I slammed the door and backed up. Bumping into someone else.

"Someone angry?" He asked.

"Have no idea." I turned around.

"Chris."

"Hm?"

"My name."

"Caroline is mine." I walk away and don't look back.
