It's been a few days since the palico was brought to the edge and things have been somewhat boring for a change, nothing catastrophic has happened since the dragons, riders, and myself found the raided hunters ship. Though from what I've seen the riders and the dragons are more hesitant to accept help from me for some reason. I was flying around the island to stretch my wings and enjoy the fresh air when I heard a pair of roars off in the distance.

y/n /Strax : "well it figures this peace wouldn't last."

Moving towards where the roars came from, I found myself hovering over a clearing in the forest, and in said clearing stood Hookfang, a female monstrous nightmare and a larger black and red monstrous nightmare. Hookfang and the larger nightmare were locked in a heated battle as the female nightmare stood and was protecting... something. After a short clash Hookfang was tossed to the side by the larger nightmare as it turned to the female and rushed to attack. Seeing this I launched myself between the large nightmare and the female nightmare blocking the oncoming assault using my wing.

Black and red nightmare : "what the!? Who are you!"

y/n /Strax : "none of your business you brute!"

As i said that i used my jets to thrust my wing at the large nightmare shaping it into more of a spear as it sliced against the larger nightmares frame. Leaping back to not get hit again the large monstrous nightmare lit itself on fire as we began to circle each other.

Black and red nightmare : "what are you doing here!? This is none of your concern!"

y/n /Strax : "Normally I would agree, however I doubt my associate would appreciate you attacking who he's defending."

At that the large nightmare began to charge at me letting out a roar as it did. Seeing this I launched a volley of dragon element bolts into him snuffing out most of the fire on his body as they collided with his body, while also further knocking him back. Recovering from my blast the nightmare tried to reignite the extinguished areas of its body but much to his apparent surprise as he was unable to ignite those areas for a time. Behind the large nightmare Hookfang was beginning to get up as the female vigilantly guarded whatever she was protecting. Seeing Hookfang start to get up I lunged at the large nightmare sinking my teeth into the unlit areas of his neck, making the large nightmare to roar in pain and return the favor by biting down on part of my own neck. Charging my jets I tried to launch some bolts at him but he dodged, letting go of my neck in the process. Using my jets I charged into the large nightmare and grabbed him flying into the sky as he attempted to fight against being lifted up. Making a sonic boom as i rocketed up the nightmare struggled against the wing pressure making most of his attacks miss their mark. Eventually I threw him further into the sky, making him spin wildly in every direction. as he tried to regain his balance by opening his wings he eventually came to a stop and gazed at me and the other two nightmares.

Black and red nightmare : "THIS ISN'T OVER!!! YOU CAN'T PROTECT THEM FOREVER!

At that the large nightmare began to fly off. After a bit i decided to land near Hookfang however the female monstrous nightmare still looked on edge as she closely watched me. Eventually Hookfang got up, wincing from his injuries we began to slowly walk towards me and the female nightmare.

Hookfang : "thanks for the help y/n but what are you doing here?"

y/n /Strax : "Well, I was enjoying a peaceful flight, however I heard you and that brutes fight and decided to check out who was making all the commotion."

Hookfang : "ah... sorry about that, i did have a good reason though."

y/n /Strax : "and what might that be?"
