What a drive. City lights twinkle below as I have an almost birds eye view of the bay and harbour. Flying along the winding cliffside roads, quickly descending back towards the centre of Monte Carlo. It felt incredible.
It hits me that we didn't decide on a destination to stop at or an actual end point for our race as we're nearing closer to the city centre, but Lando has kept with me the entirety of this journey. I'm genuinely surprised - I know he's one of the best drivers in the world but in the dead of night and on roads he hasn't drove his whole life, I'm seriously impressed.
Feeling like it's not a great idea to head straight to Charles' apartment, as I do want to at least say goodbye to Lando before I leave, I flash my lights signalling to him and take a right hand turn down one of the quieter back roads of the city. I think if Charles saw him and I together it would just cause more drama and I've had quite enough of that for one day.
I'll tell him about today, just not tonight - I'm exhausted.
We jump out of our cars, walking towards each other, he has such a cheeky, naughty smile.
"So I suppose you technically won, although I could have passed you a few times. Does this mean i'm not getting your number?" He says.
"Sure you could have" rolling my eyes. "I was making sure not to go as fast as I could have or i would have left you behind." That was a complete lie and I was absolutely full pushing the whole way here but he didn't need to know that.
"That didn't answer my question. Actually, just come here."
He grabs my arm and pulling a sharpie from his back pocket he writes his number along my arm. Why does this man have a sharpie to hand? Why is he writing it so big?! this is never going to come off my skin. My god.
"Now you can decide if you want to contact me or not." He kisses me on the cheek, then starts making his way back towards his car, I'm not sure why - but I wasn't wasn't expecting him to leave so soon, and I kind of didn't want him to leave so soon.
"Goodnight Lilly, hopefully I'll see you again soon."
It took me a moment to notice the crowd of people taking photos standing around Charles' car, and Lando's too as he pulled away. I forgot for a moment that I was driving Charles car, it's so distinctly recognisable - people were crowding around waiting, hoping to catch a glimpse of him.
I have to push myself between a few people to make my way to the car, quickly jumping in it, ignoring the questions that were thrown at me as I start the engine and slowly navigate my way out of there. That was stressful.
Now to face going and speaking with Charles, the events of this morning and what happened with Charlotte almost seem like a distant memory so much has happened today, and I really can't wait to see Charles. I want to tell him about everything that happened today, tell him about the storage unit and the letter - just maybe leaving Lando out of it, for now.
Arriving back at the apartment I was quite surprised to find lights on, It was almost 1am at this point and I thought he would most likely be sleeping by the time I arrived back, but I'm glad he wasn't, I didn't want to get into bed without at least speaking to him.
As I open the door, I see a note on the floor.
"Come to the kitchen Mon amour."I get into the kitchen to find a second note.
"Now come to the bedroom."I get into the bedroom to find a third note on the bed, next to a short black silky dress, it's absolutely beautiful.
"Put this on and come to the garden baby."I quickly change into the dress and wander out into the garden to find Charles sat at a table with candles lit and plates of food. Our eyes meet and it's as if we both just give in to each other, we don't need to say anything. I know he's sorry and he knows I am just with a glance. His arms wrap so tightly around me as we embrace in a deep hug.
"The food is probably cold but I have your favourite wine." He takes my hand kissing it. "I'm sorry about today, I should have been there with you and I should have made you feel like you were my priority - because you are ma cherie."
"I just need to know you're ok." He says.
"I'm really sorry too - I shouldn't have took off like that and not been in contact the whole night, I'm ok now it's just been a really, really long day." I am so tired right now.
"Come on baby it's getting a bit cold out here - let's go to bed and we can talk about everything tomorrow." He says while helping me up from the chair in the garden and guiding me back indoors.
The second we get into the bedroom I feel the silk dress being lifted from my body, before beginning to lightly kiss along my neck, "Come her baby. Let me relax you."
He lowers me back onto the bed kissing me softly. The kisses gradually extending lower and lower, until I feel his face between my legs. This wasn't exactly how I was expecting this evening to end. I can't describe how good it feels, he twists and turns his tongue, gripping my thighs. I move my hands down to hold onto his hair, trying to hold back my moans from turning into screams.
"Charlessss".
He stops abruptly. Grabbing my wrist.
"who's number is that on your arm?"
Fuck.
