Part 46 - Surrey

Last night was perfect.

My eyes scan him head to toe as he stands in the kitchen making our breakfast, while I'm sprawled across the bed peering through the door towards him.

He smirks at me and I instantly just blush, the way this man made me feel last night, and every other day for that matter - I just want this for the rest of my life. He bites his lower lip a little looking back at me from the kitchen before smirking again as we both begin to laugh and blush, I know in this moment we're both thinking back to last night. It was incredible.

The hairs on my arms stand on end as I think about how he was touching me, telling me how much he wants nothing but me, before eventually falling asleep in his arms after cuddling and talking for hours.

I need to gather my thoughts and calm down, because in less than 15 minutes I have to be out the door and so far I've not even showered, eaten or thought about getting dressed. I think it's time I make a move.

After the quickest shower of my life I grab the breakfast roll Charles has made for me, give him a kiss and make my way out the door. As much as I'd have loved to stay longer and indulge in his company a little more - a taxi is waiting outside to take me to the airport.

Today's the day Ill be able to say I'm officially going to be an F2 driver. Just thinking about it makes me want to scream. Thinking about the journey to Surrey also makes me want to scream - for different reasons. I'm already dreading manoeuvring through London Heathrow airport and I'm not even there yet.

It was all going to be worth it - I can't wait to get in the car and take it around the track for the first time. Closing my eyes I can picture it, the sound of it, the speed - my god I'm seriously going to need to train for the next few months and build some strength back up. The G force I'll be pulling through the corners vs my weak little neck that hasn't handled any g's these last few years is going to be a crushing defeat.

Instagram message - Lando Norris

Before opening it, I just sit and take a moment. Thinking about what it is I need to say to him, and how to put an end to all of this back and forth, but somehow thank him at the same time.

I eventually open the message.

Lan: Good luck today.

I'm not sure what I was expecting but it certainly wasn't something as simple as that, I assumed he would be asking if I'd been home and seen the house, or at least his typical forward way of flirting - but nothing. Not even a hello.

Lil: Thanks Lando, and thank you for what you did. Cleaning that house was going to be such a huge emotional task for me and you took that away, I really appreciate it.

Lan: You're welcome, it's no big deal I just got some cleaners in.

Why is he being so blunt and passive? he's the one that messaged me and it's as if he's the one trying to cut the conversation short. This is a good thing anyway I suppose, this way I don't have to reply.

4 hours later.

I don't even want to talk about the absolute dread I've just dealt with for the last few hours. I think I might actually fly to an airport further away and drive for much longer, just so I never have to come to Heathrow again.

But I'm finally here. No more than 30 minutes now separates me from my contract, and getting out on the track. All I want is to be in that car. Approaching the enormous steel building of the Rodin Carlin base, I see Aiden, my soon to be race engineer, waiting for me just inside the main doors.

"Hey Lilly how have you been? Let's get upstairs and get your documents signed so we can get you out on track before there's no time left in the day, we're a few hours behind schedule." He says.
