Dallas

1 week later

"Hey man," I said, walking into the Curtis's. "Hey Dal," Everybody said except for Mackenzie. "Too cool to say hi?" I asked her. "Hi," she said. "Happy?"

"No," I said. She sighed as I sat down next to Johnny. "Dallas," Darry warned. I put my hands up defensively. I watched it as Mackenzie laid her head on Sodapop's shoulder and the rage build up inside me.

She stood up and was wearing a tiny skirt. I took a deep breath and tried not to look. The effect she had on me was unnatural.

"Hey Soda me and Evie are thinkin' of doin' somethin' tonight, you wanna bring Sandy?" Steve asked. "Sure," Soda said. "I'll go," I said. "With who?" Steve asked. "I don't know Sylvia," I shrugged. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Mackenzie look at me. She rolled her eyes and went back over to Sodapop. She tripped, dropping her water bottle and bent down to pick it up.

I shifted in my seat, not resisting the urge to stare at her ass as she bent over. "Whoops," She said. "Can I tag along?"

"Sure, you got a date?" Steve asked. "I can bring my friend James," She said. I rolled my eyes. "Who's James?" I asked. "A friend from school," She said. "Friend, right," I said.

Mackenzie

Not only was I hiding my jealousy way better than him, but everybody could see Dally's, making them uncomfortable. I smirked to myself and stood up to go to the kitchen. I grabbed the pan to
make a quesadilla and felt someone walk up behind me. "What're you playing at?" Dally asked, his voice lowered.

"I'm not sure what you're talking about," I said quietly. "Inviting yourself," He said. "Dropping your damn water bottle,"

"I'm really not sure what you mean," I replied. "If you wanna play dirty I can too," He said. "If you insist," I shrugged. I heard him chuckle as the heat of his body next to mine faded away. I finished making my food and went and sat back down and Dally was gone.

"He was staring at you the entire time he was here," Soda said. "He wants you so bad," Liv said and I laughed at her.

"The sexual tension is real," Steve said. "Guys, shut up, Mickeys on," Two-bit said. We all lowered our voices and changed the topic off of Dally.

By the time I needed to get ready to go out, Liv insisted I look as hot as possible. She helped me straighten my hair and pick a really really really short red skirt with a white tube top and black leather jacket. "James is gonna want to take you home, and he's gay," Liv said. I laughed. "He agreed to try and make Dally jealous, so tonight he's straight," I said.

"He clearly already is jealous, after the kitchen interaction," She said. I smiled. "We're broken up though, because of me, am I being childish?" I asked.

"As much as I miss him...I don't know maybe we're supposed to stay broken up," I said. "He misses you too love, trust me," She said. "You did what you thought was right and now it feels wrong, that's okay, it's okay to change your mind,"

"Is it fair for me to change my mind though?" I asked. "That's up to Dally, but I say yes," She said. "I hurt him," I said. "He hurt you too," She said.

"You both made mistakes, and now you're making each other crazy by being incredibly and ridiculously hot," She said. "Did you just call Dally hot?" I asked. "Yeah, I guess," She shrugged.

"Now go," She smiled, looking proud. I laughed and went out to the living room. We were just waiting on Evie and James now. There was a knock on the door and I opened it. "Hey
you look beautiful," He said. "Thank you," I smiled and hugged him. "I'm coming I'm coming!" Evie said and ran up. "You guys ready?" Sodapop asked. "Yessir," I said.

We went to Bucks and got a table, drinking soda's and playing cards. "Bs," Dally said, staring into my eyes. "You bitch," I said and took the pile.

"2 7's," I said, placing two cards down. "one 8," James said. "three 9's," Sylvia said. "one Jack,"
Dally said. "Bs," I said.  He rolled his eyes as he took the pile. "How are you two so good and so bad at the same time?" Evie laughed.

"It's a talent," I shrugged. "I'm gonna go to the bathroom," I said. "I've gotta go too," James said.  He followed me to the bathroom and I felt Dally's eyes on me the entire time. "He wants you so bad," James whispered. "Shhh," I laughed. "You need to flirt with me more,"

"Will do," He said. "I'll make you like women," I winked and he smirked. "Let's see it," He said. We pretended to use the bathroom and walked back. He held my hand as we walked back, then rested his hand on my knee. Dally saw and pulled Sylvia onto his lap. "Do you guys wanna dance?" I asked.  "Hell yeah," Steve said. We all got up and followed our dates to the dance floor.

James grabbed my waist and pulled me close to him, swaying to the music. Sylvia danced on Dally, but he didn't make a single movement back.

He stared me down as I danced with James, wrapping my arms around his neck. I kept my eyes on Dally as he started to dance with Sylvia. Both our eyes lingered on one another, it was a contest. Who would cave in first?

Sure as hell wouldn't be me.

James put his hands on my waist and leaned down next to my ear. "This feels like a betrayal to the gay community," He whispered. I laughed and kissed his cheek. "Don't worry, you can go make out with Derek when you leave," I winked. As I turned back around strong firm hands pulled me away from James. "Come with me," Dally demanded. "What?" I asked.

"Now," He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards his room. I looked back at James and he gave me a thumbs up, smirking.

I winked and followed Dally up the stairs.
