"Hey," I said as I walked in the door after school had ended. "Hi, so, I heard you've been tutoring some kids from school right?" Mom asked. "Yes ma'am," I said. "Who is it you've been tutoring? Would I know them?" She asked.

"No, they aren't from our side of town," I said. "They're hoodlums?" She asked. "No not exactly, just not in our same social class," I said. "So are they middle class or are they trouble makers?" She asked. "He's a greaser, but before you get angry, he's a very well mannered and sweet boy, he wouldn't hurt a fly," I said.

"You're not allowed to tutor that boy anymore, they have no futures," She said. "Well he will if I help him out," I said.

"Not another word you aren't to help him," She said. "But he needs it and I've already been helping him two weeks," I said. "Well then you're grounded," She said. "What? I didn't do anything but help a boy who needed it!" I said. "I don't care, you're grounded for the weekend," She said. "Whatever," I said and stormed to my room. I threw my bag at my bed and laid down, grabbing the phone. I dialed Liv's number and waited. "Hello?" Randy's voice came.

"Hey can I talk to Liv?" I asked. "Sure," He said. A few moments later her voice appeared. "Hey what's up?" She asked. "I can't hangout tonight, my moms mad I was tutoring Johnny, I got grounded," I said.

"What? You're kidding," She said. "I wish I was," I said. "Okay well, I'll call you later okay?" She said. "Okay, have fun with Johnny though, don't cancel because of me," I said. "Fine," She groaned. "I love you!" She added. "Love you too," I said and hung up. I grabbed a book out of my bag when my Dad walked into my room. "Your mother wanted me to tell you that we'll be leaving for a business dinner, we're staying at a nice hotel so we'll be back tomorrow morning," He said.

"And to remind you that if you had people over she wouldn't be happy," He said. "And if I do and she doesn't find out?" I asked. "Just, be careful, she's angry," He said. I smiled slightly.

"And if you do, Bobs gone all night too," He winked and walked out, closing the door. I opened my book and read for awhile. Then I did my homework which took at least two hours. Finally, I made a snack and laid in my bed. I was eating my grapes when there was a noise at my window. I ignored it and kept eating when there was another one. I walked over to it and my eyes widened.

I opened the window and poked my head out. "What're you doing here?" I laughed. "Breaking you out," Dally said. "How'd you even know which house and room was mine?" I asked. "Liv told me," He said.

"She also tell you I'm grounded because of being around greasers?" I asked. "No, but that doesn't mean anything," He shrugged. "No move I'm coming up," He said. He started climbing the tree outside my room and eventually climbed in through the window.

"Hey," He said. "You're insane," I said. "I get that a lot," He shrugged. He laid down on my bed. "You really are rich huh man," He said.

"First of all, don't lay on my bed, second of all, don't call me rich," I said. "Well you are," He said. "My parents maybe, not me," I said. "Whatever, you live the rich life," He said. "What's your point?" I asked. "You would be horrible at being poor," He said. "Then show me what it's like," I scoffed.

"You callin' me poor?" He asked. "What? You can call me rich and I can't call you poor?" I asked. "Touché," He said.

"I'll show you how to be poor," He said, standing up. "First of all, you gotta change out of that fancy sun dress, not that it ain't hot but that's too rich lookin," He said. "Be my guest," I said, opening the door to my closet. "Jesus christ even your closets big," He said as he walked in. "Just find an outfit," I said. He searched through my clothes before throwing three things at me.

A white tube top, a pair of jeans, and a jacket. "This jacket doesn't fit me," I said. "Fine you can wear mine, I have an extra in Bucks car," He said.

"Okay, turn around so I can change," I said. He did as I said and I started to change. He started to turn his head. "Close your eyes you perv!" I yelled. "Alright alright," He said. Once dressed, I turned around. "How about now?" I asked. "Greaser like," He said and threw his jacket at me. "Even better," He said once I had it on. "Your family home?" He asked. "Nope," I said.

"Then let's go out the front door," He said. I went down the stairs and he followed me out. "So what's first?" I asked.

"You're driving," He said, throwing me the keys. "Why is that first?" I asked. "You need to see what it's like being in a car that breaks down once a week," He said, getting into the passenger seat. "Okay," I said. I got into the drivers seat and started the car.

"Where to?" I asked. "Bucks," He said. "The bar?" I asked. "What? You to goodie goodie to have a beer?" He asked. "No," I said.

"Then let's go," He said. I started to drive as he put on his jean jacket. The car was more difficult to operate but it wasn't much different than any other car I'd driven before. I pulled into the bar and turned the car off, putting the keys in my pocket. "So, is anybody else we know here?" I asked. "Yeah the guys and your friend are here," He said.

"And Sodapops girlfriend Sandy," He said. I followed him inside and there was smoke everywhere. The music was loud, the alcohol and cigarette smell hurt your head, and there was lots of dancing.

I stayed close to Dally as I followed him through the crowd and to the bar. "Buck, two beers," He said. "You know I need ID Dallas," Buck said. He handed him his, I assume, fake ID and Buck handed him the beers. He grabbed my hand and dragged me over to another room with pool tables where I saw Olivia. "Liv!" I said. She ran over and hugged me. "Who are you and what have you done with Kenzie?" She asked.

"Dally insisted on showing me how to be poor," I said. "That included wearing his jacket?" She asked. "Apparently," I shrugged. He handed my beer to me and I looked at it.

"You know that's actually for drinking, not decoration," He said. "Really? I thought I'd hold it close so I could put it on my shelf later," I said. "Come play pool!" She said, grabbing my hand. I followed her and sat grabbed a pool stick. "You play?" Dally asked. "Not much," I shrugged.

"Let's see it!" Two-Bit said. "Alright," I laughed. We played a few rounds and I had kicked all their asses. "Not much my ass," Dally said.

"You aren't gonna drink your beer?" Two-Bit asked. I shrugged. "Never had beer before," I said. "It's good," He said. "If you don't want it I'll have it,"

"I'll try it," I laughed. I grabbed the beer and took a sip. "So she can have fun," Dally said. "It's a sip of beer," I said. "And how does drinking have anything to do with being poor?" I asked. He walked closer to me. "That's just a start," He said. "What's next?" I asked.

"We're gonna dance," He said. He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me to the dance floor. As horrible as I was at dancing, I was enjoying it.

He held his hands on my waist and pulled me close. His scent got stronger every time he moved. His hands traveling my body brought butterflies to my stomach, chills down my spine. He practically moved me to the rhythm, I hardly had to do a thing. He spun me around and pulled me close to him. Our faces were centimeters apart. "Ready for what's next?" He asked.

"What's next?" I asked. "No more rejection," He said. He leaned in and he kissed me.
