Mackenzie

I woke up to Sodapop jumping on my bed and I covered my head with a pillow. "Wakey wakey," He said, grabbing the pillow. "It's Saturday let me sleep," I groaned. "Boo you're no fun," He said. "Am too," I frowned, throwing the pillow at him.

"Go get dressed Dal called and said to get you up," He said. I sighed and sat up. "So ya get up for him and not me?" Soda asked, a hand on his chest, implying he was offended. I smiled. "Love you," I said. "Love ya, now get up," He said, leaping off my bed and skipping out of my room.

I giggled before hopping up and going into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and put my hair into a low braid.

I did my make up and walked into my room, searching through my closet. I grabbed a pair of light blue cuffed shorts and put them on with a black belt. I put on a black tank top with a red and blue plaid flannel over it, topping it off with a pair of white converse. When I walked out into the living room, it was just Darry.

"I'm heading over to Bucks," I said. "Alright, your homework done?" He asked. "Yessir," I said. "Alright have fun," He said. "See ya later," I said.

When I walked inside, Dally was sitting there talking to Buck. "Hey," I said. "Hey," They both said. "Soda said you wanted me to come over," I said, sitting next to him. He nodded. The phone rang and Buck picked it up. "For you," He said, handing Dally the phone. Dally listened for a second before hanging up the phone.

"Who was it?" I asked. "Nobody," He said. "Anyway," He said. "I just wanted to see ya today,"

I smiled. "Wanna grab some food? it's almost lunch time," I said. "Sure," He said. I grabbed his hand and he followed me to the car. "Wanna go to dingo?" He asked. "Sure, you drive," I said, handing him the keys. When we pulled up he turned the car off. "Who called you Dal?" I asked. "You've been quiet ever since,"

He sighed and looked out the window of the car. "My pops," He said. "What did he want?" I asked. "He's been in jail for awhile now, he wants me to help get him out," He said. "How long?" I asked.

"Your birthday," He said. "Oh Dallas," I said. "I'm so sorry,"

"Why?" He asked. "You've just been dealin' with your father being in jail and bothering you all by yourself, then I broke up with you, I'm so sorry," I said. "It's alright, I don't care about him," He said. "Dal," I frowned, putting a hand on his cheek. "I know you," I said. "I know you too," He said, looking at my eyes.

"You wanna help him don't you?" I said. He looked down at the seat of the car. "Yeah," He said. "I've been tryna dig up the money to help him since I just don't have enough yet,"

"How much do you need?" I asked. "I need 100 more," He said. "I can help you, love," I said. "I get paid tomorrow," I added. "No, hell no, I can't take money from you, you need that for Harvard," He said. "I can spare 100, especially for you," I said. "No doll," He said. "Thank you but no,"

"Not even a little bit?" I asked. "I can't let you," He said. "Just let me give you like 50 dollars Dal," I said. "I've been saving my money since I was 5 years old, plus all that I've been making with working the passed few weeks, I have some to spare," I said. "You help me with everything Dallas,"

"Nothing like this," He said. "I know, but you would if you had to," I said. "Please let me help a little bit," I said. "Okay," He sighed. "Only a little bit, you aren't giving me 100 dollars, I'm working on it,"

"Okay," I said. "I would do anything for you, you know that right?" I asked. He nodded and leaned in, kissing me. "I love you Mackenzie," He whispered. "I love you too Dallas," I smiled. "You hungry?" I asked. He nodded. "Let's go eat, on me," I winked and jumped out of the car.

I reached for his hand, and instead of letting it go like he usually would in public, he held it tightly, pulling me close to him.

As we walked into the diner, we were greeted by Evie. "Evie! I didn't know you worked here," I
said. "Just got the job last week," She smiled. "Pick a booth and I'll be able to serve you!" She said. "Got it, thanks!" I said. We walked over to an empty booth and sat across from one another.

"Maybe we should get each others orders today instead of our usual," He said. "Living dangerously," I said. "Dangers my middle name," He winked.

I giggled as a few socs approached our table. Isaac, Derek, and Mark. Derek was James boyfriend. I sighed. "Can we help you?" I asked. "I was hoping you could help me find the nearest whore but uh, I guess I found her on my own," Mark said. Dally stood up in front of them. "You wanna say that again?" Dally asked.

"Your girlfriend is a whore," Mark said. Dally went to throw a punch but I grabbed his hand. "They aren't worth it Dal," I said. I looked at Isaac and Derek. "Besides, I could ruin their lives with one sentence," I said. "I don't think that they want that,"

Derek looked at the ground. "I especially don't wish to ruin yours, Derek," I said. "I happen to really like James," I whispered. He frowned before he walked away. "Fucking slut," Isaac spat before he followed Derek. Mark looked between us. "He's not gonna be here to save you every time," He said. "Oh but I will," Dally said. "We'll see," He said, turning on his heels and walking away.

"Let's just eat," I said. "I'll fucking kill them," He said. "It's okay," I said. "Let's just have a good lunch,"

"Okay," He said. "Only because I love you," He said quietly.
