"Talking over a football game/ With that same big loud opinion"
Y/N Southgate- 'Mean'
As Mason and Y/N returned to their Manchester home, they were greeted by the cheerful faces of Pressley and Summer. Jaz, Mason's older sister and mother to Summer, had been babysitting the two girls. To the delight of the kids, Jaz and Summer stayed a bit longer so Mason, Summer, and Pressley could play in the garden. Jaz and Y/N took the opportunity to catch up on the gossip going on in both of the girls lives.
It felt nostalgic for Y/N as they sat together in the living room, gossiping. Whenever Y/N had waited for Mason at his house, she would often find herself in Jaz's room, engaged in what they called a "gossip session." This was a cherished tradition that had continued for years. Jaz and Y/N could talk for hours about anything and everything, from the gossip in between there friends and the boys they. It was a time they both cherished.
After a couple of hours, Jaz realized it was time for her and Summer to return home. They said their goodbyes, and as soon as Jaz and Summer left, Mason and Pressley were back in the garden, ready to play. Y/N joined them, relishing the simplicity of a fun-filled afternoon with her little family.
It was Pressley who came up with an idea that would take them back to the roots of their relationship. Pressley insisted that Mason and Y/N engage in a 1v1 football match. The concept brought Y/N back to the early days when she and Mason were just teenagers.
Y/N remembered her first day at a new school, a mixture of excitement and anxiety. They had to film a video for their GCSE PE class, and both of them being passionate about football, Mason a lot more than Y/N since she just found it a hobby she was somewhat good at, they were tasked to create a 1v1 video. This idea had led to Mason's mother driving them to Cobham for Mason's training, a journey that took an hour.
In a moment of pure nostalgia, Y/N found herself reminiscing about that day when she had been ahead of Mason at one point of the game, but it had ended with Mason winning the game by a mere two goals. She jokingly blamed her school uniform, an untucked shirt and a skirt rolled up to the shortest acceptable length, for her performance.
Again, Mason won their 1v1 in the garden, and Y/N couldn't have been happier. She watched as he played with the same enthusiasm and passion he'd had as a young boy when they first met. His dream of becoming a professional footballer had come true, and Y/N had been there with him almost every step of the way. The nostalgia of that moment filled her heart with warmth and happiness, as she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life with the people she loved the most.
