Author's Rambling (29/10/23):

Was watching India vs England today and all I could think of was how good Arien would have looked in England's jersey. My poor baby Arien 😭

ARIEN

"Where are you?" Asael's tone had a hint of suspicion in it.

Nibbling on the last protein bar, I jogged over the treadmill. "Where you left me."

"Are you?"

If I find out that Elmer is the one who snitched to Asael, no one can save him from my wrath then.

"Yes. What's the problem?"

"I need you to come back home. That's it."

"I told you, I will be back once I find some lead."

"Arien, I don't care. I don't have a good feeling about this, I need you somewhere I can make sure you are safe."

"I'm thirty-two years old, Asael. I can keep myself safe, you know that."

He sighed loudly. "Then I am sending Elmer over to you."

Fuck. I turned off the treadmill and got off it, wiping my face with a towel. "No. I have said this hundreds of times, I don't need him as my babysitter."

"Then come back." He snapped. "This is an order. I am asking you to come back."

"No. I am very close this time, Asael. I won't let this chance slip away. I'm busy at the moment, will talk later." I hung up the call before he could argue further.

Asael and Elmer think that I am in New York because the moment Asael gets to know about Zahria being my guest, he is going to demand I bring her back.

That won't be happening. Zahria is staying with me however long I please and if in the end, I find no use for her then I'll dispose of her.

She doesn't believe me. Yet. But now I have concrete evidence. Bernard and Zahria are not related, I have the DNA results now to prove it.

I hope she cries on seeing the truth, that would be satisfying.

Grabbing her phone, I checked if she had any new messages.

I spent some time last night studying her messaging style before I replied to the messages she received from her 'parents' and Verena so that they don't get suspicious.

I forwarded the file of the DNA results to her phone before making my way towards her room.

She was awake currently, and I made sure through the hidden camera placed in her room. She spent most of the night pacing around and talking to herself furiously, probably cursing me, and then she threw the blanket on the floor in frustration like a kid.

She tried hitting her fists on the window but it is bulletproof so that didn't help.

It was amusing to see her being so agitated.
