ZAHRIA

I ate the soggy scrambled eggs sandwich for the third time, slightly gagging on it because honestly, I am not a huge fan of eggs.

But it's not like I have any option. It's better than staying hungry. I have to almost beg him every time and remind him that if he doesn't feed me, I might die.

Whatever he plans to do, he needs me alive for that.

He doesn't have any experience in cooking which is clear from how salty and undercooked the eggs are.

At least he cooked for my sake.

Yesterday, seeing him on the floor like that scared me. I thought he was having a seizure or something. Plus, I never expected to see him crying like that.

It made me realise that whoever this Horace is, (who is also supposed to be my father) must have caused him way too much pain for him to be like this.

Verena told me his family was murdered. I don't know any more details but if that's the reason why he is like this then I can understand but that doesn't give him any right to kidnap me.

What if...Horace is my real father?

What if I am adopted?

I have to know.

The DNA report clearly showed that Dad and I were not related but I just couldn't believe him.

After eating the sandwich, I went over to the door and pounded my fists on it, hoping he might listen.

Huffing, I sat down on the bed when he didn't come to unlock the door.

Even if he lets me out of the room, there is no way I can get off this island without any mode of transportation like a motorboat, even then I don't know in which direction the land is.

Ten minutes later, I heard the door unlock as Arien stepped in, hair wet and messily falling over his forehead, a fresh set of black t-shirt and grey sweatpants.
This guy has so much potential, he could have been a model, an actor and so much more.

He glanced at me from head to toe as he leaned against the door frame. "If you are done being stubborn then there are clothes for you in the closet." He tipped his chin to the door beside the bathroom.

"How sweet of you." I gave him a fake smile. I have already looked through that closet finding all clothes and undergarments of exactly my size.

He continued to stare at me with a bored look.

I spoke, "Also, are there any other options on the menu besides the egg sandwich? You only said I am a guest here, do you serve all your guests the same food over and over again."

His eyes narrowed. "Be grateful for what you are getting."

"I have no problem in cooking for myself if only you would let me out of this room." I negotiated.

"No."

"I won't run."

He rolled his eyes. "Even if you run, you won't be able to escape."
