I was still looking at my phone, the glow from it casting a soft light on my face. A smile played on my lips as I exchanged playful texts with Jennie. The atmosphere, usually heavy with the weight of my responsibilities, felt momentarily lifted by the unexpected connection I had found.

However, my moment of lightheartedness was interrupted by the arrival of someone familiar. "Never thought that the merciless satan could smile over a girl"

The voice belonged to Jin, the eldest member of the mafia, a figure more akin to an older brother than just a comrade. Jin's presence shifted the mood in the room, the casual banter replaced by a more serious air.

Jin's observation about my rare smile drew a scoff from me.

"How do you know that it is a girl?" I challenged, my smile not fading.

"I can read your mind," Jin responded, a hint of mischief in his eyes. I raised an eyebrow, sceptical.

"Fine, Jimin told me," Jin admitted, his tone more serious now.

"Always spreading secrets, that brat," I muttered, shaking my head with a fond exasperation.

Jin took a seat across from me, his expression turning grave.

"So, Taehyung, while you're busy exchanging texts with girls, remember that we've got business to attend to. There are rumors of a rival mafia making a move."

My demeanor shifted instantly. The smile faded, replaced by a cold and focused expression.

"I've heard. I'll look into it," I replied, my voice low and authoritative.

Jin nodded approvingly. "Good. This is our territory, and we can't afford any mistakes. Our power has been built on strength and fear."

"No one challenges the Merciless Satan and gets away with it," I affirmed, the edge in my voice unmistakable.

"Just remember, you're not alone in this. We've got your back, always," Jin reassured, the unspoken bond between them evident.

As Jin left, my thoughts shifted from the matters of the underworld to the woman who had occupied my thoughts—Jennie. I contemplated the delicate balance between the dangerous world I inhabited and the budding connection with her, wondering how these two realms would intertwine, and what sacrifices I might need to make to protect both.

The room, once filled with the playful energy of text messages, now echoed with the weight of responsibilities and the looming shadows of the underworld. Taehyung, the Merciless Satan, embraced the duality of his existence, a man capable of both charming a woman with a smile and striking fear into the hearts of those who dared to challenge him.

I entered my penthouse, the air heavy with the weight of uncertainty. The events of the evening swirled in my mind as I made my way to the room. A deep breath, and I found myself dialing a familiar number.

"Hey, can you come over now, please?"

"Okay, see you in 15 minutes."

As the doorbell rang, signaling Rosè's arrival, I hurried to answer it.

"Thanks for coming, Rosie."

"Of course, bestie duty calls. So, what's going on with you and Taehyung?"

We settled onto the couch, a sense of comfort enveloping us.

"I don't know, Rosie. It's just... everything is happening so fast. I've never felt this way about anyone before. He makes me feel so special."

Rosè nodded, a knowing smile on her face.

"He was definitely into you at the party. I think he likes you. So, do you like him?"

My eyes wandered, my expression a mix of contemplation and uncertainty.

"I don't know. He's sweet and charming, but there's also this intensity about him. He's intimidating and kind of dominant, and strangely, that's what's drawing me to him."

Rosè tilted her head, considering my words.

"Maybe you should take it slow, get to know him better. You don't have to jump into anything serious right away."

I sighed, my fingers playing with the edge of a cushion.

"It's not that simple, Rosie. I can't shake off this feeling that with him, it's either all or nothing. We can't just be casual friends."

Rosè placed a comforting hand on my shoulder, offering support.

"You know, sometimes taking risks can lead to the most beautiful outcomes. But it's up to you to decide what you're comfortable with."

I looked at my friend, gratitude in my eyes.

"Thanks, Rosie. I needed someone to talk to."

Rosè smiled warmly.

"That's what best friends are for, right? Just remember, whatever you choose, I'm here for you."

I smiled.

"Do you want to eat chicken feet?"

"You know I can never turn down food."

I took out my phone and ordered food.

"Should we watch a movie?"

"Sure, you can pick."

"Okie."

The next day, I woke up on the couch, realizing we had fallen asleep while watching the movie. Careful not to disturb Rosè, I got up, but then remembered she had work today. With a mischievous grin, I jumped on Rosè to wake her up.

"WAKE UP ROSIE! YOU HAVE TO GO TO WORK!"

Rosè's eyes shot open.

"What the heck, I? Are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

"You have to wake up and go to work, my lovely doctor."

As Rosè went to the washroom, my phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, I saw it was my dad and answered it.

"Good morning, Appa."

"Good morning, dear. Did I wake you up?"

"No, I woke up a few minutes ago."

"Okay, but I wanted to tell you that there is a meeting at 11 am."

"Alright, I'll be there. Thanks for letting me know."

"Take care, dear. Bye."

"Goodbye, Appa."

As I ended the call, Rosè came out of the restroom, looking refreshed.

"Who was on the phone?"

"Oh, just my dad. He said there's a meeting at 11 am."

"Ugh, meetings. But hey, it's almost 9 am now, so we have some time. Want me to make us some coffee?"

I smiled and nodded.

"That would be amazing, Rosie. You're a lifesaver."

In the kitchen, Rosè prepared coffee, and by the time I got ready, I found myself sitting at the table with a cup of hot coffee in front of me.

"Here," Rosè said, handing me the cup.

"Thanks, Rosie."

"You owe me dinner."

I rolled my eyes,"Fine."

And so, in the quiet moments of that morning, amidst coffee and laughter, I found solace in the company of my best friend, navigating the complexities of my emotions and the uncertainties of what lay ahead.
