The elevator doors slid open, and Taehyung and I stepped into the corridor. My father awaited us with a friendly smile, acknowledging Taehyung before turning his attention to me.
"Jennie, Ivan wants to speak with you before he leaves," my father informed me.
A flicker of disappointment crossed my face, though I nodded and followed my father out of the room, leaving Taehyung behind. As I walked away, I sensed Taehyung's gaze lingering on me, possessive and intense, sending shivers down my spine.
I joined Ivan in the hallway, and he wasted no time getting to the point. "It's been so long, Jen. I wanted us to catch up, maybe we could go for dinner."
His proposal stirred a mix of emotions within me. The idea of reconnecting with my childhood friend thrilled me, yet, an unshakable thought of Taehyung and the intense chemistry we shared clouded my excitement.
"Dinner sounds great, Ivan. It'll be nice to catch up," I replied, attempting to mask the internal conflict.
Ivan's smile hinted at relief, and he suggested a charming Italian restaurant downtown for the following evening. "Their pasta is fantastic," he added.
I agreed to the plan, feeling a tug of conflict between my past and present. "Tomorrow evening it is. I'll look forward to it."
Ivan nodded, seemingly content with my response. "Great, I'll pick you up at 7. It's a date, then."
As he walked away, I couldn't shake the nagging curiosity about how my dinner with Ivan would unfold and, more importantly, how Taehyung would react to the news. The air was charged with anticipation, and I couldn't deny the complexities weaving around the relationships in my life.

I watched Jennie speaking to Ivan, and an undercurrent of possessiveness surged within me. My jaw clenched involuntarily as Ivan flirtatiously nudged her arm, and every smile they exchanged felt like a sting.
As Ivan made his exit, Jennie turned toward me, her eyes holding a mixture of emotions. The air crackled with an unspoken tension, and my possessive instincts kicked into high gear.
"Enjoyed the reunion?" I asked, my tone more composed than I felt.
Jennie nodded, "It was nice. We're planning to have dinner tomorrow."
The words hit me harder than I anticipated, a jolt of jealousy coursing through my veins. "Great," I replied, forcing a casualness into my voice that I didn't truly feel. "Have fun."
As she walked away, I couldn't shake the burning possessiveness. The need to claim her, to be the one who made her smile and laugh, intensified. Tomorrow's dinner with Ivan suddenly became a challenge, a gauntlet thrown down in front of me.
The possessiveness wasn't just about competition; it was about a growing realization that I wanted more than just casual conversations and shared glances. I wanted to be the one who left an indelible mark on her, a mark that no nostalgic connection with Ivan could erase.
I took out my phone and called someone. "Get me all the information about Ivan Petrov."
