The fascinating thing about falling in love is how much I began looking forward to the little things, like meeting up with Jennie for lunch or just talking to her on the phone. My members keep teasing me, saying I'm on cloud nine, which I can't deny is true. I think I'm slowly falling in love with Jennie. Actually, who am I kidding? I'm already in love with her. Before her, I never thought I was capable of feeling this way.

As I drove to her penthouse, I glanced at the night sky, and all I could think about was her, bringing a smile to my face. Since meeting her, smiling has become a regular occurrence for me, though I try to save them just for her. I parked my car and made my way upstairs to her penthouse, anticipation building with each step.

I was just about to knock when I realized the door was slightly open, leaving me confused. I cautiously stepped inside and walked to the living room, where I saw Jennie standing with her back to me, holding what looked like a file. "Jen?" I called out softly. She turned toward me, tears streaming down her face, and I saw the document she was reading. My heart stopped—I knew exactly what she had discovered.

"Jennie," I said gently, approaching her slowly. But she stepped back, making my heart shatter.

"I can't believe you lied to me!" she cried, her voice quivering with hurt. Tears continued to stream down her face as she looked down, trying to contain the storm of emotions within her. "I trusted you."

I felt a lump in my throat, struggling to find the right words. "Jennie, please let me explain," I pleaded, my voice barely a whisper.

Her eyes, usually so full of warmth and love, now glistened with pain and betrayal. "Explain? How can you possibly explain this?" She held up the file, her hand trembling. "All this time, you've been hiding things from me."

I took a step closer, my heart aching at the sight of her distress. "I didn't mean to hide anything from you. I was going to tell you, I swear."

"Then why didn't you?" she demanded, her voice breaking. "Why wait until now? Why let me find out like this?"

I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "I was afraid, Jennie. Afraid of losing you. I thought I could handle it on my own and protect you from it."

"Protect me?" she repeated, shaking her head. "Do you know how humiliating it is to find out from someone else? To realize that the person I trusted the most has been lying to me?"

"I'm sorry," I said, my voice filled with remorse. "I never wanted to hurt you. I love you, sweetheart."

She looked at me, tears still flowing. "Love? How can I believe in your love when you've been dishonest with me?" She wiped her tears and continued, "You are an undercover mafia king. You kill people, you do illegal things, and you put me in danger too. Everything you told me was a lie, and you expect me to believe you?"
