Peter's pov

We sat there in the living room, a mixture of emotions filling the air. Sofia's pregnancy had brought a joyful anticipation to our hearts. I felt so happy for Sofia and Dave, hopeful that the impending arrival of their baby would bring them closer together.

The room was not as lively as it used to be; our cousins had returned to Spain. Grandpa, having learned about Sam's and my troubles, made the decision to bring Sam back to Spain. The absence of their laughter and chatter left a noticeable void.

Between the congratulations and shared smiles, my attention shifted to Cole, who appeared a bit subdued lately. Do you believe that yesterday he changed his mind about spanking me? Yes, I know, it's not like him at all. Not like I mind it, I'm glad that I can feel my ass today.

A subtle sadness lingered in his eyes, a puzzle I couldn't quite solve. Even Luke, my keen-eyed brother, acknowledged the change in Cole's demeanor. We exchanged glances, silently agreeing that there was more to the story.

"Should we ask him?" I whispered to Luca.

"Nope, I know someone who can help us delve deeper into Marc's state of mind." He snickered.

Cole offered to take Sofia back home so she could rest, and while he was gone, we quickly made our way upstairs to Nico's room. We decided to pay a visit to him, as he seemed the most likely candidate for our investigation.

We barged into Nico's room, finding him on his phone. His eyes widened and he scowled, obviously annoyed. "There's something named knocking." He said, his voice full of irritation.

"Yeah, we'll talk about that later." I said as I snatched his phone.

He was about to jump out of the bed and show me how stupid my move was but Luca stepped in front of me and said, defendingly, "We need to talk, it's an urgency!"

"Tell him to give me back my phone." He seethed.

I cautiously extended my hand and threw his phone on the bed beside him. He glared at me and said, "Okay, be quick because I'm busy."

"What are you busy with?" I asked.

"Hit the fucking bottom line." He said, ignoring my question.

"Okay, Cole is not like usual." I said, seeking Nico's insights.

Nico nodded, his expression serious. "Maybe because someone endangered himself and went to gamble."

"Not that! Luke talk to him." I frowned as I crossed my arms together.

"Nick, for real, he seems upset. Does he have any problems at work? The warehouse?"

"Or missing Elda because she didn't sleep with him for a week?" I smirked.

"None of these." He puffed.

"What do you think is causing it?" Luke asked, eager to understand the situation better.

"He wanted to fix a date for his and Matilda's marriage but she didn't accept." He answered.

"What? Why?" We yelled stunned.

"She is following Diana's path." He shrugged.

"C'mon, be clear!" Luca shook him curiously.

"Your curiosity started to itch you?" Nico chuckled.

"Ugh, Nicoooo, just say it." I whined.

"Matilda said she'd marry him once you get enough of him."

"What is that supposed to mean?"
