Second station day

Maya's pov
I woke up a little earlier today so I could squeeze in a run before work. I get home just in time for Carina to leave for work, we said goodbye before she left for work and I went into the bathroom to have a shower.

I get out of the shower and get ready for the day, before going to wake Evelyn up. I walk into her room and she her sleeping on the floor as usual. She still hasn't told us why she does it, but hopefully she will someday. I sit down next to her and start to carefully play with her hair.
"Time to wake up kiddo" I say in a soft spoken voice. She stirs a little, but keeps her eyes shut. I continue to play with her hair and speak to her until she's fully awake. While Evelyn gets ready I make a quick breakfast. After a little while she comes down stairs and sit down. I hand her, the breakfast and she looks up at me giving me a little smile.
"Did you sleep well" I ask her, and she nods before starting to eat her breakfast.

After breakfast I pack up my things and then we head to the station. We get there and walk upstairs to place my things in my locker. I hear voices coming from the beanery and I see Evelyn tensing up, I hate how living with James ruined all the progress that we made.

"I know it's been a long time since you saw them, but they are just the same people as before and it's nothing to be scared off" I tell her
"but if it gets to much you just tell me ok" I add. And she give me a little nod. I reach my hand out and she grabs it, then we slowly make our way into the beanery. Ben,  jack and Travis are sitting at the table while Andy is standing at the kitchen island when we walk in. Andy is the first one to notice me and Evelyn walking in.
" Evelyn it's good having you back I've missed you" Andy says making the rest of the team look at us.
"Good morning to you too Herrera" I laugh
"Yeah yeah good morning bishop" she answer clearly not caring about my presence. We walk over to take table and sit down.
"It's nice having you back mini bishop" jack says to Evelyn. She doesn't look up at anyone and looks a little uncomfortable so I change the subject.
"Where's Hughes and Ruiz?" I ask looking around.
"Ruiz has the day of and I'm guessing Vic is late because Theo wanted 'day off sex'" Andy says sitting down. Just then Vic quickly walks in.
"I can't believe him I was like 10 minutes late and he puts me on fucking deck duty, I mean what is going on with him" she yells. Everyone stays quiet just looking at her.
"Oooo mini bishop is back" she says suddenly noticing Evelyn presence, making everyone laugh and I even she Evelyn smiling.
"Sorry about the swearing in front of your kid bishop " she says sitting down at the table.
"It's okay, and I do agree that Sullivan has been acting different lately"
"Yeah I've noticed that too" Andy agrees. Before anyone else can say something the claxon go off.
"You stay here with Vic and I'll be right back I promise" I say trying to comfort her as much as possible before I have to run off.

Evelyn's pov
I had to come to that station with Maya today. I don't get why I just can't stay home, I did it all the time with James. He would leave early in the morning and I would just stay at the hours or hang out with Sam and Sky. It was nice seeing how the people here have missed me though. Maya had to go on a call, so it was just me and Vic left at the station.
"Do you want to come down and sit at the desk with me?" Vic asks when everyone had left. I nod and follow her down stairs.
"Who were the two teenagers I saw you with the other day" she asks sitting down at the desk. I sit down at the chair beside her, but I don't answer her question.
"Are they your friends" she asks probably understanding that I won't answer verbally. I answer her with a nod. Vic starts doing some work on the computer and I sit there just watching her. After only 5 minutes she turns to me
"Do you want to play a card game working is to boring" she asks. I laugh a little because of how long she managed to go without getting bored. I honestly think this is the first time I've laughed since I moved back in with Maya and Carina. We start playing and completely lost track of time. I look over at my phone and realize it's 12 and Maya still isn't back from the call.
"I'm sure they'll be back soon, but how about I go make us some lunch while we wait" she says getting up and walking upstairs.
I sit at the desk playing with a pen, when I hear a loud noise coming from the captain's office. It sounded like something or someone falling. I look up at the stairs waiting for Vic to come downstairs, but she doesn't. I try to ignore it, but something is telling me to go and check. But I can't just walk into the captain's office. Maya would probably be super mad if she found out. What if I just knock on the door and ask if everything is okay. I slowly get up from the chair and carefully walk up to the door to Sullivan's office. I force myself to knock on the door, but no one answers. I wait a little before deciding to try again, but no one answers this time either. I grab the handle and slowly open the door, I don't know why I'm doing this but something in me is telling me i have to. As soon as I open the door I'm met with Sullivan laying on the floor and when I look closer I see a needle beside him.
