38. My Youth Is Yours
~What if
What if we run away
What if
What if we left today
What if
We said goodbye to safe and sound
What if
What if we're hard to find
What if
What if we lost our minds
What if
We let them fall behind, and they're never foundAnd when the lights start flashing like a photo booth
And the stars exploding
We'll be fireproofMy youth
My youth is yours
Trippin' on skies, sippin' waterfalls
My youth
My youth is yours
Run away now and forevermore
My youth
My youth is yours
The truth so loud you can't ignore
My youth, my youth, my youth
My youth is yoursWhat if
What if we start to drive
What if
What if we close our eyes
What if
We're speeding through red lights into paradise
'Cause we've no time for getting old
Mortal bodies, timeless souls
Cross your fingers, here we goMy youth
My youth is yours
Trippin' on skies, sippin' waterfalls
My youth
My youth is yours
Run away now and forevermore
My youth
My youth is yours
The truth so loud you can't ignore
My youth, my youth, my youth
My youth is yours~NICO POV
I played with my hair as Percy walked calmly beside me. I was excited about our date, I'll admit. Why wouldn't I be? But I was also nervous. Extremely nervous. Percy looked great adorning a turquoise shirt that clung to his torso and dark jeans. I noticed his hair was all ruffled up like he had trouble styling it and then gave up when he found nothing was working. I kinda liked it. It worked for him. I felt my cheeks burn and hastily covered my red ears.
I tore my gaze away from him and focused on avoiding every crack in the sidewalk as we headed into the Half-Blood Town. The silence wasn't awkward, was it? Was he still jealous about the Leo/Ruari thing? Trust me, I would rather bang a drakon, or better yet, Medusa than have a slight attraction to those two idiots. They were the most irritating dynamic duo I had ever run into, even worse than the Stoll twins who hung my Tokyo Ghoul anime boxers from the Camp's flagpole. Disturbing examples, but I think my point comes across clearly. Fuck my life.
To be honest, this was my first date. Nothing unexpected as Percy was my first crush and first kiss. Not surprising details at all, really, considering my rogue lone wolf life. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. Was I supposed be all smiley and cute and flirtatious? Overwhelmingly happy? Awkward but adorable? Chatty and charming but overall calm? Cool and collected? I'm clueless. Honestly clueless. But one thing was certain: I was not going to use chat up lines.
My breath caught in my throat as I felt Percy's fingers intertwine with mine, giving my hand a small reassuring squeeze that made my stomach flip. How could he possibly notice my discomfort? I bit my lip nervously.
My head lifted in interest as Percy began speaking in a questioning tone. "So, since it's a nice day today, I figured we could go somewhere nice that has an outdoor table for dinner. Does that sound okay, Neeks?"
I smiled and then that smile turned into a frown as realisation washed over me. "Wait, I asked you on a date. Aren't I supposed to be bringing you somewhere? When in the Hades did this happen?"
"When I showed up to take you out on our date and then started to lead you into town. I've been leading for about ten minutes," Percy chuckled with a slight snort.
I glared at him. "I'm paying, then."
"What?" His sea-green eyes widened and he glanced at me with a disapproving scowl which I easily brushed aside, "No! It's only right if I pay because I'm the one that's-"
