Close to bedtime, Darkness and Megumin were playing chess in their pajamas, or something that resembled chess. Y/N was watching them, and did not understand the rules. One piece moved from one corner to the opposite corner while one went through multiple pieces at a time. Truly a crazy game.

Megumin: "Darkness! That's not fair!"

Darkness had made a move that Y/N didn't understand at all, as she took two pieces at the same time.

Megumin: "All right, then... Very well, very well. Go ahead and do as you please."

Y/N: 'What the hell is this game?'

Aqua: "Hey, Kazuma."

Aqua walked up to Kazuma, who was laying down on the coach in front of a lit fireplace.

Aqua: "Relinquish that spot to me, the glorious and magnificent Aqua-sama."

Kazuma: "Huh?"

Aqua: "I'm level 21, the highest level in the party."

Y/N: "I'm level 22."

That was a lie. He just didn't want to let Aqua be like this for free.

Aqua: "... Anyway, Kazuma."

Y/N: "Don't just ignore me."

Aqua: "You're being awfully impertinent for an under-leveled lowbie, Kazuma. If you get that, then give the spot nearest the fireplace to your superior."

Aqua presented her adventurer card to Kazuma, ever so braggingly.

Kazuma: "... Huh? I don't think your stats have changed at all."

She looked at her adventurer card and then looked at Kazuma like he was stupid. Admittedly, he is, but he isn't.

Aqua: "Kazuma, you idiot. My stats have been maxed out since the start! Don't think you can lump me in with ordinary adventurers."

Silence. Y/N and Kazuma looked at Aqua with a blank stare.

Megumin: "Looks like my only option now is to whip out my deadly teleport."

Darkness: "H-Hey, Megumin! That's not fair."

Megumin: "Those are the rules.

Darkness: "Huh...?"

Megumin: "Destroyer, explosion!"

Darkness: "Ah!"

That's a move that automatically makes you win the match. I think? Anyway, Kazuma got up while Y/N turned back to the game, with a slightly sad expression.

Aqua: "Oh? You're being very obedient."

Kazuma put a hand on Aqua's shoulder and looked at her, with the saddest expression she had even seen on him. He didn't say anything.

Kazuma: 'That explains why her intelligence doesn't improve, no matter how much she levels up.'

Aqua: "Hey, wait. Why are you crying? Why're you staring at me like you pity me?"

Kazuma: "Goodnight."

Kazuma walked away, wiping his tears away.

Aqua: "Hey, Kazuma!"

Even if they resolved the matter of making it through winter, which had been their main concern, by getting a mansion, the party still had lots of problems to solve. Namely Aqua.

Y/N: 'Seriously though, what the hell is this game?'

Wish I knew.
