Chapter 17: A Hot Springs Trip

(Hello. Author here. Sorry this chapter took so long. I've been busy due to school. Anyway, enjoy the chapter.)

In front of the mansion's front door, Megumin stood in place, nervous and anxious. Mostly about seeing Y/N again, for certain reasons. Reasons that may or may not be related to the piece of paper she was looking at before leaving the mansion.

Megumin: "Calm down. That, uh... T-That wasn't real. Y-Yeah, nothing happened."

Ah, yes, nothing happened. Anyhoo, after calming herself down, Megumin went inside the mansion. She took off her hat and cape and put them on the coat hanger. Her staff she placed to lean against the wall before going to the living room to see the rest of her party. What she saw horrified her.

Aqua: "I've made some of the finest quality tea, Kazuma-san, Y/N-san."

Y&K: "Quite."

Wearing bathrobes and each sitting with one leg over the other, Y/N and Kazuma each picked up a cup of tea and took a sip. Additionally, Y/N had Chicken Vienna Sausage in his lap, like he was a bad guy from a bad movie or something.

Kazuma: "This is hot water."

Y/N: "Indeed."

Oh, it was actually hot water.

Aqua: "Oh, how careless of me.

For whatever reason, these three were acting really weirdly. They're usually always at each other's throats, but now they're acting so polite. They're even smiling. Ew.

Kazuma: "Could it perhaps be that you purified the tea?"

Aqua: "I'm ever so sorry, Kazuma-san, Y/N-san."

Y/N: "Ah, don't worry about that. Simply brew some more tea."

Kazuma: "We'll finish these."

The two gentlemen sipped their te- hot waters again and smiled.

Y&K: "Yup, hot water!"

Megumin: "You're freaking me out!"

Hearing Megumin, the three turned to look at her, still smiling.

Y/N: "Ah, Megumin. How wonderful of you to come back now. Come, have a cup of tea with us."

Seeing Y/N act like this made Megumin's anxiety and nervousness disappear. In their place, disgust, but only slight disgust.

Megumin: "W-Why are you acting like this? Is it something I did? If it is, I'll apologize, so go back to how you usually are! Please! You're being really creepy!"

Y/N: "Quite rude."

Y/N stood up from the sofa after putting the tea cup down and walked to a corner, holding the cat in his arms. He stroked the cat's fur and signaled Megumin to come over, which she did, while Kazuma drank some more hot water.

Y/N: "Okay, I'm done playing."

Megumin: "Playing?"

Y/N: "Playing. Anyway, we're acting like rich people cuz we are rich people. Simple as that."

Megumin: "..."

Megumin stared at Y/N with a really annoyed face, then sighed as she shook her head. She turned to look at Darkness, who was conveniently close to them.

Megumin: "Darkness, can you tell me what actually happened? This guy here sucks at explaining stuff."

Darkness: "Uh... Sure."

Yesterday, while Megumin was away, the rest of the party had been having a quite peaceful day.
