Chapter 18: A City of Crazy Cultists

(I bought the Konosuba visual novel that was released a while ago. So far it's been pretty good. I'm also contemplating whether or not I should write that, too. Probably not, though. But if I do, it would be its own book. Anyway, enjoy the chapter.)

A chicken race. A game of speed in which competitors charge at an obstacle at full speed, dodging only at the last second, to demonstrate courage. And right now, Darkness has been chosen as the obstacle in this dangerous game.

Darkness: "Oh, boy! Here they come, here they come!"

If she wasn't tied up, she'd be clapping her hands with glee.

Darkness: "K-Kazuma, Y/N... This time... This time, I'm surely done for! Oh, they're gonna ram me!"

One of them ran right at her, and it looked like it was going to crash right into her. HOWEVER, right at the last millisecond, it somersaulted over her. Elegantly.

Darkness: "Hah?"

The Running Hawk Kite landed behind her and kept running past the caravan. The rest did the same thing, somersaulted over her and ran past the wagons.

Darkness: "Kazuma! Y/N! Does this count as a type of teasing? This sensation of almost being struck is quite something! Unbelievable. Males in heat are leaping over me, one after another!"

Kazuma: "Stop it! There are people watching! Don't say anything else!"

Y/N: "This pervert is being edged by birds. Never thought I'd see this type of edging."

Megumin: "What's edging?"

Y&K: "..."

For some reason, both boys turned their heads away, leaving Megumin to wonder what edging is.

Aqua: "Blessing!"

Meanwhile, Aqua used Blessing on Darkness to boost her luck, for whatever reason.

Darkness: "Oh, don't bother with me!"

The Running Hawk Kites kept jumping over her while Darkness herself had an ecstatic look on her face.

Kazuma: "... Okay, I guess we don't need to worry about Darkness right now."

Aqua: "All thanks to my Blessing!"

Y/N: "Yeah, I doubt that did anything."

Kazuma: "Still, when we're done here, you can have my seat."

Aqua: "Yes!"

Y/N: "Hey, what about me? Do I still have to be on the roof?"

Kazuma: "You're the one who wanted to go up there... Hey, how'd getting a tan go?"

Y/N: "... I probably got burnt. Megumin, is my skin red?"

As he said that, he raised his shirt so Megumin could see, which caused her to blush.

Kazuma: '... He's either really bold today, really comfortable around her, or slightly acoustic.'

Megumin: "U-Uh... No? I think? Not much."

Y/N: "Okay, good."

He lowered his shirt.

Adventurer 1: "Lightning!"

Adventurer 2: "Blade of Wind!"

Adventurer 3: "Fireball!"

Y/N: 'Why are his Fireballs smaller than my Tinders?'

That can be taken in two ways. Anyhoo, the adventurers hired to guard the caravan were killing the monsters, but since they were running at high speeds towards them, some of them crashed at the adventurers. The ones that didn't die came running back at the wagons.
