Chapter 10: A Destroyed Destroyer

As the emergency broadcast sounded all over the town, citizens were evacuating, panicked faces on everyone's faces. Meanwhile, adventurers were rushing to the guild.

Speakers: "All citizens, please evacuate immediately! All adventurers, equip yourselves and report to the adventurer's guild!"

Back at the party's mansion, Y/N, Megumin and Kazuma were out in the yard, looking at the direction of the town. Aqua walked to them, pulling along a cart with a lot of stuff on it. Probably all of their stuff.

Aqua: "Kazuma! Y/N! We're running away! Far away!"

Y&K: "Huh?"

Megumin: "The mobile fortress, Destroyer... Fighting that thing is reckless, at best."

Y/N: "Where'd all that stuff come from?"

Megumin was suddenly carrying a bag tied around neck. It wasn't touching her neck, but she was holding it there with her hand.

Kazuma: "We keep asking, what's a Destroyer?!"

Wearing a full set of armor, Darkness walked to them from the mansion.

Darkness: "An ancient weapon that went on a rampage. It's said that wherever it goes, not even grass remains once it's gone."

Y/N: "Eh... I don't like this. Did I sign up for this? No, I don't think I did."

Kazuma: "... Guys, we're going to the guild."

Y/N: "Why?"

Kazuma: "Like hell we're gonna let this mansion we earned so easily and in such a big time of need be destroyed more easily!"

Y/N: 'This dude.'

Nevertheless, the party got ready and left for the guild, while the Destroyer marched towards town.

At the guild

The guild was full of adventurers, ready to aid in any way possible. Even Chris, whom Y/N hadn't seen since last time, was there. The adventurers were gathered around Luna, who was about to explain the situation.

Luna: "All of you are this city's last bastion of hope. We humbly request your assistance."

A quild employee stepped forth, holding a crystal ball with something visible in it.

Employee: "At present, the mobile fortress, Destroyer, is on a direct path our way, invading from the northwest. One hour remains until it arrives."

What Y/N saw in the crystal ball when he looked at it was a massive mechanical spider. It was made entirely of metal with a building on its back. Cannons on its back shot at whatever was filming it, ending the feed. This left everyone worried and nervous.

Adventurer 1: "Um... The Destroyer was created by an ancient magical kingdom, right? Did the creators not prepare any countermeasures?"

Luna: "They were the first to perish."

Y/N: 'Wow, great job, ancient people.'

Kazuma: 'This is an impossible game.'

Adventurer 2: "If only Mitsurugi-san were here right now..."

Both Y/N and Kazuma looked away. Chris turned to the adventurers who aren't a part of Y/N and Kazuma's party. For whatever reason, they were in front of rest of the adventurers, almost like they depended on it. Or were main characters, whichever floats your boat.

Chris: "You guys should just run away."

Darkness: "They can't. The townspeople will lose their homes."
