Chapter 32: A Royal Dinner

(Hello, author here. This chapter took pretty long to write, huh? Well, it is also the longest so far, at about 12k words. Does it really matter? Probably not. Anyway, nothing else to say other than sorry for the long wait yet again, and hope you enjoy!)

Some days after Hagen came by to bring the news, the girls were sitting harmoniously on the living room couch. Y/N was leaning on it from behind, looking over their shoulders as they took turns playing on the game console.

Y/N: "Hey, isn't it my turn soon? You guys have been playing for hours."

Aqua: "Shush. It's still our turn."

Darkness: "That's right. We spent hours getting to this point, so we're gonna finish it, too."

Megumin: "Sorry, bestie. You'll get it soon enough."

Hearing his lovie call him "bestie" struck Y/N a little weird, but he understood why she did, so he couldn't exactly say anything.

Meanwhile, Kazuma was sitting cross-legged on the carpet, right in the middle. For whatever reason, he looked thoughtful, a weird grin appearing on his lips every now and then.

As Darkness squinted her eyes at the screen, trying to figure something out about the game, another weird grin appeared on Kazuma's lips.

Aqua: "... Kazuma's been grinning by himself disgustingly for a while now. Well, it is spring now, so it can't be helped if he turns dumb."

What Aqua said made everyone else nod in agreement, even Y/N, and caused Kazuma to snap back to his senses. A moment later, he turned to them with a serious face.

Kazuma: "I want a younger sister."

In response, the four stayed silent for a while, some of them glancing at him during the silence.

A good thirty seconds later...

Aqua: "Hey, Darkness, we have to take turns, okay? I'm next, right? I wanna defeat the final boss."

Darkness: "No, wait, you three have taken out bosses in real life. At least let me take out one in the game."

Megumin: "No, as a Crimson Demon, I won't back down on the issue of dealing the final blow. And the final boss is definitely a powerful foe. If we let the bumbling Darkness do it, we will need to try several times again before defeating it."

Y/N: "No, it's my turn! I haven't played even once, so it's only fair I get to kill the boss! Come on, gimme!"

Seeing his party members argue over who gets to defeat the final boss instead of paying attention to him ticked off Kazuma.

Kazuma: "Listen to me!!"

Aqua: "Waaahhhh! Stop it, we're about to beat the game! We spent so long to get there! Give it back!"

Retaliating against the four ignorant idiots, Kazuma snatched the console and began dodging the crying Aqua who was trying to get it back.

Kazuma: "Here, I beat the boss with no damage! Happy now?"

Aqua: "Not at all! It took us all of yesterday and today to reach that part! How could you just trample over our efforts so easily?!"

Kazuma: "Oh, shut up. Just give me the game again, I'll get back to that point in three hours with no damage."

Aqua: "No, stop it! No more trampling!"

The tearful Aqua snatched the game back and turned back to the couch, only to see that Y/N had hopped over the back of the couch and taken her spot.

Aqua: "You-!"

Y/N: "Bleh."

In response to Aqua's mad expression, Y/N simply stuck out his tongue at her.
