"So Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event. The Tri-Wizard tournament. Now for those of you who do not know, the tri-wizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school a single contestant is selected to compete. Now let me be clear, if chosen you stand alone. And trust me when I say these contests are not for the faint hearted, but more of that later. For now please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the Beauxbatons Academy of magic and their headmistress Madam Maxime."
A group of girls dressed in blue danced up the aisle and released butterflies into the air. They bowed as they were applauded. That caught Aria's attention, she dropped her fork and stared back at them before clapping wildly.
"Can I be one of them one day?" Aria questioned.
"No." Severus corrected running a hand over her head.
" Blimey, that's one big woman." a student remarked looking at Madam Maxine. Hagrid smiled back at Maxine, she was a large woman.
"And now our friends from the north, please greet the proud sons of Durmstrang and the high master Igor Karkaroff." Albus added.
A series of older boys walked up the aisle brandishing bow staffs, twirling them around and periodically stabbing them into the ground with a spark effect. Aria flinched back as a few of the boys breathed fire.
"Snazzy." Lilith murmured.
"Too much flare." Severus countered kissing her hand.
"What would Hogwarts do?" Lilith pondered.
"Walk to their spots and not act like circus monkeys." Severus suggested.
"Boring but true." Lilith agreed.
"Blimey it's him, Viktor Krum!" Ron declared.
"Your attention please! I would like to say a few words. Eternal glory, that is what awaits the student who wins the tri-wizard tournament. But to do this that student must survive three tasks. Three extremely dangerous tasks."
'The champions will be chosen by an impartial selector: the Goblet of Fire. Anybody wishing to submit themselves as champion must write their name and school clearly upon a slip of parchment and drop it into the goblet, aspiring champions have twenty-four hours in which to put their names forward. Tomorrow night, Hallowe'en, the goblet will return the names of the three it has judged most worthy to represent their schools. The goblet will be placed in the entrance hall tonight, where it will be freely accessible to all those wishing to compete'. Albus told the students and staff.
'Finally, I wish to impress upon any of you wishing to compete that this tournament is not to be entered into lightly. Once a champion has been selected by the Goblet of Fire, he or she is obliged to see the tournament through to the end. The placing of your name in the goblet constitutes a binding, magical contract. There can be no change of heart once you have become a champion. Please be very sure, therefore, that you are wholeheartedly prepared to play before you drop your name into the goblet."
"Eternal glory, be brilliant wouldn't it? In three years from now we'll be old enough to be chosen." Ron remarked.
"Yeah well rather you than me." Harry assured. As the days passed, classes resumed and names were thrown into the goblet. Harry watch as Ron's twin brothers came running up.
"Thank you thank you, well lads we've done it." George declared.
" Cooked it up just this morning. " Fred agreed. Severus's gaze shifted to them. Classes had been going smoothly, even with the added students and teachers bombarding into his classroom. He hated sharing his space and had to lock up his cabinets, he wasnt good at sharing but otherwise it was going smoothly.
"It's not going to work." Hermione cut in.
" Oh yeah? And why's that Granger." Fred countered.
"You see this? This is an age line. Dumbledore drew it himself." She pointed to the line.
"So?"
"So a genius like Dumbledore couldn't possibly be fooled by something pathetically dimwitted such as an age potion." Hermione told him factually.
"That's why it's so brilliant." Fred agreed.
"Ready Fred?"
"Ready George?" they drank down the age potion.
"What are they-" Lilith question was cut short as they jumped inside the age line, and cheer. They put their names in the flame and high fived. The flame fires up and they were flung across the room onto the floor. When they get up they had full heads of grey hair and beards. Aria laughed out tipping her head back.
"They were young and now they are old!" Aria giggled out.
"You said.. Fred You said.." George pulled at his beard.
Aria stuck her hand through the barrier, it didnt feel like anything. She watched the blue flame shimmer before her eyes. Severus pulled her back.
"You are not turning into a little old lady." Severus begged.
"Sorry honey I was distracted by Fred's beard." Lilith admitted. "It's impressive."
The year of the blasted goblet passed in a damn blur of panic. Harry was chosen and lilith was one step away from having a conniption.
" do you have a strange feeling that all this is leading up to something worse?" Lilith questioned.
" what do you mean?" Severus countered.
" We need to get rid of more of these horcruxes. These pieces of him. I can feel a darkness at hogwarts i havent felt before." Lilith answered. "Harrys name in the cup this is just the start."
