"Are we ready?" Vicky asked Joe and he nodded and smiled. Vicky giggled in excitement. She and Joe both realized Sara and Oliver liked each other and it was time to put a plan into action. There was a new romance movie coming out and Vicky, Sara, Joe, and Oliver were going to go as a group...
Or so Sara and Oliver thought.
Joe left to go by Vicky's earlier and since Oliver and Sara live so close, they decided to just walk to the movie theater. When they got to the theater, they looked confused.
"That's weird....Joe said he was here" Oliver mumbled and Sara nodded in agreement. "Vicky messaged me too and said she was here but I don't see her. I'm gonna call her." Sara said. Oliver nodded as he looked at what he wanted to eat at the concession stand.
"Sorry, Sara. We can't make it. Joe's car broke down and we're waiting on the mechanic." Vicky said sadly and Sara began to worry.
"Where are you two? Oliver and I can-" Sara started before Vicky cut her off.
"Don't worry Sara. It will be here in 30 minutes and then we'll go from there. Just enjoy the movie with Oliver" Vicky said but not before giggling a bit.
Sara noted how happy her cousin was to be stuck in this situation and asked her to keep her updated before she got off the phone with her. Who gets happy to be stuck?
After explaining the situation to Oliver (and calming him down), they decided not to waste their tickets and decided to go see the movie.
As Sara was getting her food, Oliver got a message from Joe:
"Enjoy your time together bro. Told you I got you. Don't come home without making a move ;)"
As they walked into their seats, Oliver realized what was going on and began to blush.
"Stupid Joe. I told him I liked Sara and now this" Oliver mumbled and groaned.
The trailers started to roll and Oliver glanced at Sara. She smiled happily eating from the large bucket of popcorn they decided to share and Oliver smiled small. He began to think of some memories they had together and began to blush. As Sara finished talking, she looked at Oliver to see if he heard what he said and noticed him staring at her.
"Oliver, are you okay?" She asked, blushing a bit at him and he just awkwardly coughed and looked away as he nodded.
The movie began and they made small comments here and there about what they noticed. Mainly it was Sara loving love and Oliver grumbling about how unrealistic it was.
"Subwayboy, it's a movie. It doesn't have to be realistic" Sara whispered in a sing song tone.
"Yeah, I know, but a horse and carriage in Central Park around Christmas while birds are making a heart in the sky is just wild" he grumbles and Sara shakes her head and laughs.
As they are watching the movie, they both reach for popcorn and gasp as their hands touch. The blushing and quiet apologies began profusely and the offering to go first for popcorn rolled in.
Eventually, the popcorn ran out and the popcorn bucket was put to the side. Oliver noticed Sara's arm on the armrest, hand resting perfectly on it.
"Come on Oliver, go for it," He thought. He took a deep breath and slowly moved his arm to the armrest, hand dangling next to hers. Sara glances, her heart racing as she notices how close their hands are. Sara quickly erases the thought out of her mind.
"Just friends. He likes someone else. Just friends. He likes -" Her thoughts cut off as she felt a small force on her hand. She peers to see Oliver linked his pinky with hers. She softly gasped and looked at Oliver. She looked at him. Oliver was sweating bullets, not sure what to think, do, breathe, or say.
Sara links their pinkies a bit tighter, confirming her feelings silently and Oliver lets out a breath he didn't realize he was holding in. The movie was eventually over, Oliver and Sara walking out with pinkies still linked.
As they walked to their apartment, Oliver stopped Sara from walking under a streetlight, She looked at him confused for a second.
"Sara, I...really like you," Oliver says, blushing and looking away. He sighs, mentally psyching himself up before continuing, Sara grabs his hand and nods to him, signaling him to go on but to take his time.
"Sara you...have become someone very important to me. My feelings snuck up on me but once they did, I haven't been able to stop noticing you since. You are kind, funny, a bit boy-crazy (they both laugh at that), but most of all, genuine. You get me to try new things and be a better person. I just...really like you" Oliver says, looking all around but making sure he locked eyes with her at the end. He wanted her to know that she meant more to him than she might think.
Sara blushes greatly but smiles. "Oliver, I've liked you longer than I think you and I both knew. You went from someone who I never thought I would see to being the person I hoped to see every day. You are smart, great at your music, mostly anti love yet one of the most caring and loving people I have ever seen. You make me stop and think but in a good way. I like you too"
Oliver intertwines their hands together and they walk home talking and laughing about anything and everything. As they got to their doors, Sara thanked Oliver for the great night and gave him a big hug and they parted for the night....but not before Sara gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. That was perfect enough for tonight.
