Sara celebrates her birthday....in a closet....with Oliver????

"Is everything ready?" Joe asks as he looks around the apartment. They were setting up the room for Sara's birthday. Streamers of an assortment of colors were all over her apartment. Tammy was humming as he was cleaning while Oliver was helping blow balloons. If this was for anyone else, he'd be complaining and trying to stay home but it was for Sara and Sara was different.

People were mingled about helping with things or talking. Vicky was in charge of distracting Sara until 6 pm when the party started and it was 5:55. Everyone gave their thumbs up and Joe texted Vicky telling her to bring them back.

Everyone put anything cleaning-related things away and quietly mumbled excitedly as they waited on Sara. Her dad allowed them to use her place as long as they cleaned up and were safe. He's out with friends for the evening and won't come back until midnight.

6 pm on the dot and there was a jangle of the keys. Everyone fell silent as the lights turned off.

"That's weird. Why are all the lights-" Sara began before hearing "SURPRISE" come from everyone. Sara smiled and jumped for joy as she noticed that it was all for her. Everyone came and hugged her and told her "Happy Birthday". When Oliver did it, Sara felt a chill go down her spine as she said thanks. Oliver has been her crush for a while now but with the whole situation with Joe, it just feels almost forbidden but that didn't stop Sara from wanting.

The music came on and everyone danced and mingled around the room. Eventually, 8 pm came and it was time to start some games. After some crazy truth or dare, Rose smirked as she brought out a bottle.

"Ugh, Spin the bottle Rose? Come on, we're too old for that." Someone groaned but Rose tsked at the boy.

"This is 7 minutes in heaven," She said and everyone cheered, Sara and Oliver being the only two who looked confused.

"7 minutes of what?" Oliver asked and Rose explained to the clueless boy. They'll spin the bottle and the two poor souls who it lands on get a whole closet to themselves for 7 minutes.

"No way. I'm not doing that." Oliver blushed. Who knew what could happen in 7 minutes? That was too much.

"Oliver, please. I don't think anyone here would try to make you uncomfortable." Sara asked and Oliver had a gentle blush rise on his face as he closed his eyes and sighed.

Why'd out of everyone did you have to ask me? Now I can't say no.

"Okay Sara" Oliver answered, surprising Joe in the process. Since when did someone have the power to change his mind that quickly? The party gathered in a circle as Rose spun the cliche green bottle and it landed on Vicky and Joe. Joe tried to shy out of it but it was no use. While they had just got together, it was awkward, yet some kisses were shared.

They came out hand and hand, Vicky and Joe's hair looking a bit messy as everyone "ooh'd" at them. Joe rolled his eyes but smiled nonetheless. Other people went before it was finally Sara's turn to spin.

"Let's see who is going with the birthday girl!" Patrick yelled and everyone cheered as it spun again and it landed on...Oliver? The party went silent as Oliver and Sara's faces turned red.

"Olivara! Olivara!" A girl with red curly hair cheered and everyone followed suit as the two got up and got locked into the closet.

"That went perfectly" Rose smiled and Patrick nodded in approval.

"What did?" Joe asked confused.

"Oh, honey. If you didn't know, your brother likes your ex and she likes him back. It's as clear as water. Oliver never told you anything?" Rose mentioned and Joe shook his head, explaining how Oliver is very reserved with his feelings. He wouldn't have told Joe if he straight-up asked him to his face.

While in the closet, a mere lightbulb swung from the top as Oliver and Sara sat in the closet, crisscrossed. Sara looked at Oliver as he looked at his watch.

"We'll be out at 9. It's 8:53" Oliver mumbled and Sara nodded. While Sara did like Oliver, she didn't even know where to begin with this opportunity.

Should she let the moment pass or take a chance?

"I hope you're having a good birthday. Sorry, you're stuck with me in a closet." Oliver mumbled, playing with his fingers and looking up at the swinging light. He winced when he looked a bit too long, leaving Sara to giggle.

"It's okay Oliver. Sorry, I roped you into this game. I knew you didn't want to do it." Sara says, feeling bad that Oliver has to be in this situation. She shouldn't have forced it.

"If it helps, out of everyone here, I'd rather it be you," Sara says and Oliver raises his eyebrows, looking at the red-headed girl. She tucked a hand behind an ear, taking pieces of hair with her. Her hair's been growing out and it looks really good. She put on pink lipgloss that made Oliver's head spin and her new outfit was something he hadn't seen her in before.

"I feel the same...I honestly agreed just for you" Oliver laughs drly and through his pain, not trying to let his feelings show through and was hoping it was working. Sara looked at him quizzingly, wondering if he ever thought about her the same way she was wondering about him.

"Oliver...I need to tell you something" Sara says softly, playing with the hem of her shirt. She glances at him to see that she has his full attention.

Did she ever have it any other time or was this their moment?

"If you hate me for this, then promise you'll tell me after my birthday. I want to enjoy today." Sara mentions and Oliver goes to sit by her, making both of their hearts race.

"Sara, whatever you tell me, I promise you that I can't hate you. What is it?" Oliver asks, placing his hands close to Sara's but daring not to cross the line.

"Oliver, I...like you as more than a friend. I just had to let you know because if I didn't tell you now, I didn't think that I ever would but yeah..." Sara takes a deep breath. Oliver goes into shock for a second before he recovers. He checks his watch.

8:59:40

"I have 20 seconds," Oliver says as he looks up at Sara.

"20 seconds for what?" Sara asks. She just confessed to him and he wants to escape. Great. She knew she didn't have a chance but she wanted to at least admit it.

"Sara, Can I..." Oliver takes a deep breath.

"I would like to kiss you." Oliver finishes and checks his watch

8:59:50

"I would like for you to do that too" Sara smiles.

Oliver cups her face and leans in to kiss her, gently as if the moment could disappear at any moment. They kiss softly, smiling into it as they both are in shock it is happening.

8:59:58

Oliver and Sara break away just as the door opens and they get out.

"So...anything good?" Patrick asks, raising his eyebrow. He looks to Sara as she looks at Oliver to make sure he's comfortable. Oliver nods, wanting to be supportive of Sara and her birthday and Sara grabs his hand.

"Yeah. Definitely" Sara smiles and everyone whoops. A whole bunch of "finally" and "thank goodness" came from people and Oliver turned red, trying to hide his face while Sara laughed. While Joe was in disbelief, he smiled at his brother. He knew Sara was good for him and if anyone would be a good match for him, it'd be her. While they didn't work out, he could see how those two gravitated to each other when he thought about it.

"Happy birthday Sara Lin" Oliver smiles and Sara hugs him. Oliver gently kisses her forehead as he wraps an arm around her.

Best birthday ever.
