DAYDREAMIN

The one where Oliver finally wrote a song for his muse

Based on the song "DAYDREAMIN" by Jonathan Tilkin 

It sounds like something Oliver would write for Sara so here we are!

"See you later you Oliver" Sara Lin smiles and shyly waves. Oliver zones out a bit on Sara before finding his way back to Earth from Sara waving her hand in front of his face and waves bye to Sara Lin, embarrassed. He blushes as they part ways and head into their apartments. Oliver runs a hand through his hair.

Why Sara Lin? Why do you have this power?

Oliver heads to his room and closes the door, sighing as he paces in his room. He knew he had to get all this frustration out. He looks over towards his guitar and grabs it along with his notebook. He begins scribbling lyrics. He wasn't the best at it, but Sara's tricks had rubbed on him just enough to write the song. He finally finishes 3 hours later, runs it through, and smiles. It's way better than he thought it would be.

Oliver texts the Starfighter group chat.

OY: Guys...I wrote a song.

Sky: WHAT?! Oliver Yang wrote a song. No way.

Twin Power: What's it about?

OY: Just about feeling frustrated about something specific

Sky: Well can we hear this at band practice tomorrow?

OY: Yeah

Twin Power: Whooo

Sky: Lovely Oliver. See you tomorrow.

Oliver pushes up his glasses and smiles. It's not like Sara would know it's about her right?

Oliver comes to band practice, with Sara's dad's guitar and his journal in his backpack. He waved to everyone when he came in and everyone replied.

"I'm excited about this song Oliver. This is so not like you. Is this specific...a person?" Sky asks playfully and Oliver looks to the ceiling, praying to find a way to get out of this conversation.

"We'll take that as a yes," The other members said in unison and laughed. Oliver shushed them as they continued to laugh. After being coerced to play it to everyone, everyone's jaw dropped when he was done.

"So much passion."

"Well she deserves a song with passion" Oliver mumbled.

"SHE?!" Everyone says as Oliver groans. 

"I knew this was a bad idea, Never-" Oliver started and headed to the door but Sky cut him off.

"Oliver shh! Feelings are good. Is this the pretty redhead?" She said with an eyebrow raised and Oliver gave her a blank look. Sky definitely knew him so there was no getting out of it. Oliver nods quickly and everyone squeals in excitement.

"You're playing this tomorrow for her and we're joining you. Come on." Sky says as she grabs his wrist and brings him back. Oliver's eyes shut as she knew what she was referencing. Their school was having a talent show and they could play two songs. He already invited Sara, Joe, and Vicky who were all coming.

They worked for the next few hours turning into a "band" song before liking the way it came out and wrapped up practice. Everyone felt confident by the end and headed home for the day. Sky and Oliver walked to the subway together talking about the final details.

"She's going to love it, Oliver. Do me a favor. When you sing it, sing it to her. Find her and sing it to her."

"Oh no wa-" Oliver started but Sky gave the "You better do this" look and Oliver sighed.

"She dated my brother. She is off-limits. Plus dating now is wrong. We don't know anything about anything." 

"She is single and your brother is dating someone else. She is available and based on what you tell me, is waiting for you to make a move. Also, that's the fun and scary part about now. You get to learn everything. Get your girl Yang and thank me later." Sky notes before pushing him onto the subway and waves. She sighs as she smiles small.

She remembered when she was the girl.

The next day, Sara, Joe, and Vicky walked together to the Starfighters Talent Show at the other member's school. They had reserved seats in the front and found them before chatting and then the show began. They saw magicians, dancers, singers, and more. This school had it all. 

Finally, it was the Starfighter's turn and everyone cheered as they came out. Oliver looked over the crowd and eventually found what he was looking for in the front row next to her cousin and her brother. Sara gave him a thumbs up and cheered him on as he smiled big. They began their first song and everyone was dancing to it. Some people in the crowd even knew the song and sang along. It was a good moment.

Once they were done, Sky began to talk about how she appreciated everyone who knew the first song and now was heading to a new one. Oliver got a pat on the back from Sky and reassuring looks from everyone. Oliver sat on a stool in the middle and took a deep breath. He found Sara, who looked entranced with everything, and smiled at her. She smiled back and blushed a bit.

"Uh...This one is for someone special. They don't know I wrote this but I wanted them to know that they're my muse...and always have been." Oliver said and Sara looked confused.

Is he going to serenade Sky on the stage?

The song began with Oliver's guitar as he sang. He looked nervous and looked at Sky for assurance. Sky's eyes widened and she glanced at Sara who slumped a bit but was still smiling.

Sky jerked her head to the audience, silently telling him to look at Sara before she got the wrong idea. Oliver blushes and nods.

Oliver found Sara's eyes and was nervous but continued to sing, eventually putting more passion in.

Oliver began getting more confident and finally catching Sara Lin's eyes, smiling at her. Sara looked at Joe and Vicky and they smiled at her, both proud of Oliver for finally singing his feelings. She looked back at him smiling.

Oliver sang the chorus again and the outro before ending it with the band and everyone cheered! It was so loud but the only thing that mattered was Sara Lin. Sky waved her over and she came to the stage and Oliver crouched by her from the stage.

"I was your muse." Sara looked at Oliver in amazement.

"It was always you Sara." Oliver smiled. Sara reaches for his hand and he gently grabs it and they both smile knowing things will be changing for the better very soon.
