AU where Joe and Sara are best friends and Sara's best friend's brother is the one for her!
Victorious anyone?
Joe's POV
I was waiting outside for my two favorite people: My best friend Sara Lin and my little brother Oliver.
Sara and I immediately clicked and we got close as soon as I moved here. We had so many things in common that it was crazy. We both had a love for a lot of different things. While many people thought Sara and I would date, we both talked it out and decided that it'd be better off if we stayed friends.
Sometimes it isn't worth ruining the friendship over a maybe.
I feel someone jump on my back and I jump until I hear Sara go "boo!" into my ear. I roll my eyes but smile as I spin a bit and we both laugh. Sara always makes my day. As we talk, Oliver finally appears, mumbles some sort of greeting, and keeps walking with headphones in. Since Oliver moved here, he's had a tough time adjusting, to say the least. He does enjoy Sara's company though which was great to hear.
"Onward!" Sara yells and I run a little bit, making Sara laugh. She is such a great friend. She gets down and we talk about our day, me explaining how Rose tried to give me a heart shaped donut while Sara talked about how Patrick tried to put his arm around her, peaking Oliver's attention.
"He put his arm around you?" Oliver asked and Sara nodded.
"Yeah but he isn't my type and I told him so I think it was friendly but I don't know." She shrugs her shoulder.
Third Person POV
"What is your type, Sara?" Joe asks curious. Sara had never told him if she liked anyone so he was genuinely curious. Oliver slyly removed an earbud and glanced at Sara, waiting for her answer.
"I like...shy but smart guys and kind! A mystery yet fun and sweet." Sara says and Joe raises an eyebrow.
Sounds like Oliver if you asked him
Sara took a quick glance at Oliver, his face turning a slight pink around her. They've gotten closer due to him tutoring her and while Sara knew how she felt about him, she doesn't know if he feels the same. She can't tell Joe. What would he think? What if he thought she wasn't good enough for him?
Joe kept his thoughts to himself. He had so many questions running through his mind but asking her, especially in front of Oliver was not going to get him any answers.
"Hey! I have an idea. Since it's a long weekend, let's have a party at my place! My dad's going to going out of town anyway. We can play games and do karaoke and bring food. What do you say Linny?" Joe asks, using Sara's nickname and Sara jumps and claps. She rubs Joe hair and makes a run for it.
"Good idea Jojo. The last one to the apartment has to sing first for karaoke! Come on Oli!" Sara yells and Joe and even Oliver run. Sara always makes things fun.
Oliver gets there last and while he grumbles, they agree to invite others and meet at the Yangs at 8pm.
Sara says hi to her dad when she comes in, and her dad responds, taking about how he misses his rock and roll days, causing Sara to playfully roll her eyes.
Sara finished some homework, video chatted with Vicky about her, and then began getting ready and cooked a quick meal of shrimp fried rice, leaving some food for her dad before she knocked on the door of the Yangs.
Sara, Tammy, Vicky, Rose, Patrick, Joe, Oliver, and Mickey all came out to the party.
Oliver had to sing Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus per Joe and Sara's request.
Truth or Dare had most of them on edge.
Uno almost broke some friendships. It was truly a party to remember.
All night, Rose noticed something throughout it all. Love is in the air. Sara and Oliver were definitely into each other. She smirked seeing Oliver playfully singing and Sara cheering him on a bit more than everyone else making Oliver blush.
During Truth or Dare, Patrick jumped scared Sara, making her hand touch Oliver's knee and Oliver eyes widen.
Vicky and Joe were whispering to each other all night and giggling.
Hmm....Let's make this interesting.
"Alright, let's make this interesting. Let's play Twister." Rose smirks, holding it.
"Alright! I've been stretching for th-" Patrick begins but Rose stops him.
"Not you. Sara, Oliver, Joe, and Vicky. You four are playing." Rose says and the four raise their eyebrows.
"Why us?" Oliver asks and Rose mentions to not ask questions and to take their positions.
"Sounds fun!" Joe says, oblivious to what is about to happen.
As Rose and Patrick call out colors, the four move awkwardly, bumping their heads and mumbling sorry. Rose calls out the next color, but Sara can't reach it which results in everyone falling.
Oliver sees Sara falling and holds himself up to not fall. When he goes to ask if she's okay and looks down, Sara's staring at him as if he's the only boy in the room.
Maybe all the moments they had were not as imagined as he thought.
Joe's able to get up when he finally notices why Rose had them play.
Sara and Oliver like each other...and neither one told him.
Why wouldn't they tell him? His best friend and his brother?
Sara? Joe asks surprised and Sara's staring turns quickly away from Oliver.
Joe... Sara says with a hint of guilt on her face, Oliver's face red.
Rose's content.
Tammy's eating popcorn watching it all go down.
Joe leaves to get some air, Sara following to try to explain, taking Oliver's wrist with her. Oliver runs a hand through his hair.
After they get outside, Joe begins.
"You like Oliver? Why didn't you tell me?" Joe asks confused and Oliver's eyebrows raises.
"I didn't want to risk our friendship, Joe. You and Oliver both mean a lot to me but to say something and have anything go wrong just makes me nervous" Sara says, on the verge of tears.
"Sara, you have to let people know what you feel when you feel it. I think it's great you like him but you can tell me anything and you know that." Joe says.
"And how do you know it'll go wrong? You don't even know how I feel" Oliver asked, confused and heart racing.
"H-How do y-you feel?" Sara asks nervous and Oliver takes a deep breath.
"The same. I feel the same Sara Lin." Oliver says, now linking their fingers together.
Their hearts started racing.
Joe looks between them and smile.
"Sara if anyone was perfect for my brother, it'd be you." Joe says and Sara hugs him.
And the rest is history.
