Oliver waited anxiously as the hour was coming to an end

Would he get a chance to fix the mistake he made all those years ago?

Fans came and went asking for pictures as he did and Oliver smiled and talked with them, glancing occasionally at Sara Lin to see if she noticed. While she was busy, she did occasionally make eye contact with him which made his head spin more than he thought it ever could. She just didn't know how much she means to him or what he would do if he could go back in time and change his decision. When the hour was up, Sara clocked out, got a pep talk from Vicky, and sat across from the person who had hurt her all those years ago. She tried to keep a tough face but she knows Oliver knows her better than anyone and while she would never say it out loud

she missed him.

"Thanks for giving me a chance" Oliver says, as he tugs on his collar due to the nerves. Sara noticed it was one of the things he did so she was surprised to see it again. She didn't think he had anything to be nervous about. He left her after all. Sara just took a deep breath and waited for Oliver to begin his explanation.

"Sara, I...If I could go back in time and tell my past self to just explain this correctly like how I am about to do, I would and maybe things would be different, but I can't so I'm going to just do my best now." Oliver started and Sara gave him a curt nod.

"I found out the band was selected to go on tour. You've seen me on TV or on social media now I'm sure of it. When we got the news that day, I was so excited but then I thought of us. To have you holding on when I didn't know the future just felt...so wrong. I couldn't do that to you. I knew it was better to cut it off so you could live your life to the fullest so I did what I thought was right. I broke up with you but not only did I go about it wrong, I ended up hurting you too. I never wanted to and when I couldn't explain all this, you said to never talk to you again. When I could, I couldn't get a hold of you. Vicky said it was your decision and to respect it and I understood." Oliver explained and Sara looked at him shocked. When Oliver realized she wasn't going to yell or scream, he continued.

"I saw you were selling books. I bought them all. I read them and you had a book signing not too far from me and I went but security said I couldn't come in and I was defeated. I came back here because we finally get a break and...I missed you. I really did Sara Lin. I-" Oliver continued but got cut off by Sara.

Sara explained how it wasn't his place to come to that decision and that he should have talked to her. Oliver nodded as Sara explained her side. The crying, the pain, and not wanting to go anywhere to making her book and feeling like things would get better. She thanked him because without him, she wouldn't have wrote the series to begin with.

"So what you're saying is...You owe me money for how well the books sold" Oliver joked. Sara laughed as they began having playful banter. It felt as if it was the same, all those years ago. While Sara didn't like the way Oliver went about it, she did see his point of view and knew in the end that Oliver was just trying to look out for her. How could she mad about that?

"So...what will it take for me to get a date with "New York Times Best Seller Author" Sara Lin?" Oliver asked while looking at her longingly. He did these four years without her and he didn't want to do anymore.

"You'll have to work for it. Simple." Sara said. She knew he meant well but she wasn't going to just cave easily. She wanted to see if Oliver meant what he said and that took time. Oliver nodded in agreement and looked around Kiki's before settling his eyes on the "Now Hiring!" sign in the window. His eyebrows went up and Sara looked at him confused.

"You want me to work for it? You got it." Oliver smiled, a bit of a satisfied yet devious glint in his eyes.

"Absolutely not! This is crazy!" Sara exclaimed, looking at Oliver as he casually put an apron on for Kiki's. When Vicky said the new hire was already coming, she was a bit surprised, but was not expecting to see Oliver as it. Vicky said they needed someone since Roni had to take care of a sick family member and he wanted to.

"Be nice Sara Lin! This is so romantic!" Vicky squealed and Sara just rolled her eyes. Vicky always sees everything as a love story, especially after her and Joe just got engaged.

"You said to work for it Sara Lin. This is me working for it. I think I'll be great and I bet I will sell more chicken specials than you" Oliver teased and Sara huffed.

"You're on. Loser owes the winner $5" Sara exclaimed and Oliver laughed but nodded. He knew he was getting somewhere with her, even if it was teasing. It was better than what he did have.

silence

As months went on, Oliver and Sara began to grow close again. Oliver would stand up for her if a customer tried to get too crazy and Sara would let Oliver know if paparazzi was trying to get in the restaurant. They worked well like a oil machine and the bets at work kept things fun. Vicky began noticing Sara talking about him more and more and she smiled. She just wanted her cousin happy and she knew Oliver was the guy for her. They just always have been. Roni was returning tomorrow, and Sara couldn't help but be a bit sad as Oliver was her replacement. She loved Roni but working with Oliver was something she didn't think she'd miss.

"Last shift everyone. Let's make today special" Oliver said and Vicky nodded while Sara smiled small, knowing she was going to miss him. Oliver knew he had to respect her boundaries. He didn't ask for her phone number but he did always walk her to her car on shifts they had together or try to help her with her side work as needed. He wanted to prove he'd step up for her. He'd do anything for her.

The last shift comes to an end and Oliver turns off the lights for Kiki's for the night. As they were cleaning, Sara let Vicky go home so she could close up instead, leaving her and Oliver alone. As they were wrapping up, Oliver looked at Sara restocking napkins and he came to help her.

"So, tonight was my last night working here. I'll miss it" Oliver said and Sara nodded noting she'd miss him too. Oliver said he'd come visit still and while Sara knew it'd go back to normal, she couldn't help but think of how much she'd miss him.

"One more competition. Wiping down tables. Loser grants the winner one wish?" Oliver says, not wanting to keep the moment too down and Sara agreed. As they worked fast to clean, Oliver beat her by one table and Sara sighed.

"Darn, I was close. Alright, what's your wish?" Sara said, laughing at the situation. Oliver stared her with longing and Sara felt her heart racing. She knew she began liking him two months in and everytime he did this, it made her nervous.

"Sara, will you go on a date with me?" Oliver asked, stepping closer to her. She gasped gently as he gently grabs her hand and her eyes dart back and forth between their hands and him. Oliver knew it was risky but so was working here six months. It was a risk he was willing to take.

"Yes" Sara says, interlocking their fingers. Oliver's eyes widened as he got excited. They closed up the shop and after he walked Sara to her car, Oliver left knowing he was one step closer to where he wanted to be.

"Oliver, where are we going?" Sara asked confused but Oliver didn't respond. Sara was blindfolded and was told to dress nice so she did. When she was finally able to take the blindfold off, she gasped. Tealight candles lite up the room with rose petals as Oliver stood on the other end in a tux.

"Sara Lin, letting you go was the dumbest mistake I ever made. I promise to always keep your heart safe. To be there for you. To show you what love is because you deserve nothing less. I worked for it and always will. Will you marry me?"

"Oh Oliver. Absolutely"
