Almost good

I had passed out the moment they had given me the pain meds.

Understandable considering the injuries I had.
I must have slept a long time.

The dry feeling in my mouth, the dizziness, the heavy feeling of my body.

I groaned slightly and blinked.
My head was banging.
And of course no one had even dimmed the lights.
They always forgot this.
They always forgot these little things.

My mouth tasted like blood.
I remembered the fucking branch that slapped me in the face.
I must look ridiculous.

I couldn't quite remember everything that happened after we made it out.
I knew I managed to pull out that bullet.
The conversation I had with the guys.
But not really more.

The image and the feeling of the kiss crossed my mind. I felt my heart pounding.
I quickly shook that off.
It meant nothing.

Right?

It was just for the mission.
He had probably already told everyone what happened in there.

I knew we got the stick but it still felt like a failure.

I opened my eyes and wanted to rub my eyes.
But I couldn't move one hand.
I looked down.
Over my hand was a very big other hand.
I looked up and looked directly into Königs face.
He smiled bright as he saw that I was awake.

„You're up. How are you feeling maus?"

Seeing this big and always so serious man smile this bright was almost adorable.
He really looked wasted.

His dark blonde hair, that was neatly styled the night before, was messy.
His face was still dirty.
At least he had a fresh shirt on, but still the suit pants.
I assumed someone had brought him a new shirt.

I noticed how it was already bright outside.
Had he sat there the whole night?

„Uhm..like I ran barefoot through some hedges"

I said weak but tried to smile.
König chuckled.

„Yeah you look like it too"

„Could have guessed that. That brench hit me pretty hard. I must look terrible"

I inspected my busted lip with my other hand.

„Pretty wasted to be honest."

He still didn't let go of my hand.
I blinked a bit and tried to sit up.
Until I noticed that I was only wearing a thin hospital gown over my underwear.
And I knew these things weren't really covering.
I sunk back and pulled the blanket even higher.
König laughed.

„Nothing I haven't already seen maus"

I shot him a confused but angry look.

„Ey that dress didn't really cover much to be honest. Didn't mean I was complaining"

„Shut up"

I hissed and pulled my hand away from his.
He and his bloody arrogant comments.
He laughed even more.

„Come on. Nothing to be ashamed of."

„I'm not ashamed.
I know I look good you idiot.
I just don't you grant you this sight"

I grinned sarcastically.
He rolled his eyes and leaned back in his seat.

„Good to know you're back. But I really have to thank you. You saved my life there"

„Saved? You took that bullet for me. That wasn't necessary"

„Yes it was. We probably wouldn't had make it out if it would have been you"
