This was her 3rd run since that first training session. The weather had been a bit rainy, and her converse were getting muddy with each step she took. Sirius, as Padfoot, was chasing after her excitedly. He has loved getting to spend these moments with her.

That was until a Slytherin walked over carrying two brooms. "I thought I told you to not come out here alone." His face held an annoyed expression as he laid the brooms on the grass. "I'm not alone though." She gestured to the big black dog who was growling at Evan. "I meant a person Birdie, not a mutt." Padfoot's stance grew defensive in front of Evalyn.

"See, he won't let anything hurt me. He's a good boy." The girl scratched behind the dog's ears, making him wag his tail. Evan huffed and rolled his eyes. "Next lesson then, balance." He picked up a broom and tossed it at her. Evalyn made no move to grab it, so she just let it hit the ground. "You are a complete nutter if you think I'm getting on one of those death traps." Padfoot picked it up in his mouth and hauled it away from her. "Besides, we agreed one of the boys will be here for lessons."

He narrowed his blue eyes on her. "Fine, Potter or Black can help us later, but you will be on the broom. In the meantime, at least let me join you on your run." Evalyn pet Padfoot's head when she agreed. He let out a low growl but joined the two, making sure to stand between Evalyn and the Slytherin.

Later that day in DADA class, the Marauders were sitting on the table, surrounding Evalyn. They were all working on their projects when there was a knock at the door. The professor swiftly crossed the room, and allowed Professor McGonagall to walk in. "I'm afraid the headmaster needs to see Mr. Rosier." Evalyn dropped her quill and whipped her head to meet Evan's already worried look. He shook it off quickly, plastering on his pureblood mask, and followed after the professor.

"I need to hit the loo." Peter asked before he could even raise his hand. As the Professor gave him permission, he gave Evalyn's shoulder a squeeze. He darted out of the room quickly and jumped into a closet so he could transform into his animagus. The rat scurried as fast as he could, and managed to enter the headmaster's office as Evan was closing the door.

"How may I help you Professor?" The boy spoke calmly and politely to the older wizard.
"I just wanted to check on you my boy. See how your classes have been."

Evan gave an innocent smile. "They've been great, I have no complaints." He folded his hands in his lap. "Was there something else?"

Dumbledore tapped his fingers on his desk, "I see you've grown rather close to Miss Fern." Evan furrowed his brows, playing it off as a confused teen. "Whatever do you mean? We just simply exercise sometime. My parents have told me to make some new connections at school to set me up better in the Ministry." He gritted his teeth when he felt a familiar tingle in his mind. It was like tentacles were prying into his brain. He did his best to cut off his thoughts, denying access to the wizard. "Surely that is not a crime?"

Dumbledore shook his head, and smiled at the boy. "No, an old man was simply curious. You may go now." He pursed his lips and gestured towards the door. Evan and the rat left the office and the Slytherin decided to head back to his dorm.

Peter caught back up with his friends, and told them everything that was said. It concerned her that Dumbledore was trying to get information, but the Gryffindors assured her that he was just trying to protect her.

James and Sirius decided to both help Evalyn with her next training, much to Evan's dismay. As she tried to thank him for not telling Dumbledore anything, he just brushed her off and pointed to their matching scarred hands. James stood in front of her holding her broom, while Sirius was on her side holding her hand.

"Here you can ride my broom Lynnie." Evalyn coughed suddenly while James snickered. "Nice way to talk to a lady Black, surely you were taught better than that." Evan scowled at Sirius.

"Why would I take relationship advice from the people who love to inbreed?" Evalyn's jaw dropped but she covered her mouth to suppress her laugh. "Anyways, that's not what I meant, she will be safer riding with someone else."

"He's right, I'd feel more comfortable too." Evalyn stepped closer to Sirius who wrapped his arm around her waist. "Very well. Not too high, she will have to stand on it for this session." Sirius' cold hand held her warm one as she threw a leg over the broom. James held it steady so she could get on before Sirius did. The group hovered in the air, barely off the ground. Just the small change in height had Evalyn scared. Her eyes were clamped shut and her body was tense. Sirius had both arms around her body so he could grab the broom in front of her. "Alright Potter, you go to her left side, I'll take the right. We will stand her up and let her get used to it."

"Lynnie love, I got you, I won't let you fall." He felt her stop breathing, so he pulled her by the waist backwards into him with one hand. "Breathe in and out with me." Together they did some inhales and exhales and she slowly opened her eyes. At first she looked down and got dizzy, but then realized that even if she were to fall from that height, it wouldn't hurt. She turned her head to Evan with Determination and nodded. With one hand on each of their brooms, James held on to her left hand, Evan reached for her right, making Sirius glare at him. Sirius moved his hands from in front of her, to placing one behind her on the broomstick, the other gripping her waist. A light breeze came by and blew a couple strands of hair away from her face. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before giving a nod showing she was ready.

"Alright Birdie, use our hands to push yourself up, we will keep you steady and then find your balance." Evalyn took one more deep breath before hoisting herself up onto her feet. Honestly her small hands were crushing the boys' hands but neither of them would let her know that. They stood true to their word by not letting her go. Sirius' knuckles turned white from gripping the broom tightly, his other hand was held up shakily behind her just in case. After a minute of holding her up, Evan spoke up.

"It's time for me and Potter to let go." The panic hit her and she felt her stomach drop. She started shaking her head wildly, "I can't, I can't do it." Tears started to form that made James' heart clench. Despite the wave of anxiety that he felt, Evan held strong. "You have to little bird, you're not a quitter. Don't be weak." Sirius wanted to bite off Evan's head for how tough he was being on Evalyn, but deep down he understood that it was for the best.

Her eyelids were tightly held shut and her nerves made her body start to shake slightly. "Listen to me Lynnie, I've got you. I won't let you fall." Something about the deep voice of Sirius Black calmed her slightly. She let go of James first, since she trusted him more. Then after another minute, she released Evan's hand. Her eyes were still closed as she stood completely still for a moment. Evan went to shake the pain out of his hand when she got excited. In her typical excitement, the girl started to bounce, forgetting where she was at. Her foot slipped and she tumbled off the broom.

She let out a loud squeal and prepared herself to hit the ground. A hand grasped the front of her clothes and held her tightly. She peaked an eye open when she didn't feel any impact. There, holding onto her for dear life was Sirius Black, he let go of his broom to try to catch her. Knowing he probably couldn't use just his legs to stay on the broom while holding themselves up, James had grabbed the broom to steady them. Evan awoke from his shock to grab her arm and helped Sirius hoist her back up onto the broom.

"Alright Lynnie?" Sirius wrapped an arm tightly around her to comfort his racing heart.

"That was AMAZING!"
