"It's hard to enjoy a cup of ramen noodles after that. I mean, is that ridiculous? Can you believe she actually thought that?" Chandler asked his friends after retelling how one of his coworkers thought he was gay.
The whole gang was at Monica and Rachel's for a Chinese takeaway dinner night, all sat around the coffee table in the living room.
"Um... yeah!" Rachel admitted. "Well, I mean, when I first met you, you know, I thought maybe... Possibly, you might be."
Chandler was shocked by the revelation. "You did?"
"Yeah but then you spent Phoebe's entire birthday party talking to my breasts so then I figured maybe not," Rachel said.
"Huh..." Chandler was not over it and he turned to his other friends. "Did uh... any of the rest of you guys think that when you first met me?"
"I did." Monica told him.
"Yeah, I think so, yeah." Phoebe admitted.
"Not me!" Joey quickly said, Ross agreeing with him.
"Although, uh, you know, back in college, Susan Salidor did," Ross added.
"You're kidding? Did you tell her I wasn't?"
"No. It's just 'cause I kinda wanted to go out with her too so I told her, actually, you were seeing Bernie Spellman, who also liked her, so..."
"Quinn, as an actual person part of that community, what did you think when you met me?" Chandler asked the redhead, her opinion being more important than the others' in this moment.
Quinn swallowed the noodles she had been munching on before answering. "I didn't think you were gay when we met but I understand why some people would think so," she told him.
"Well, this is fascinating," Chandler didn't know what to do with all this new information. "So, uh, what is it about me?"
"I don't know," Phoebe spoke for the girls, "'cause you're smart, you're funny..."
"Ross is smart and funny, you ever think that about him?" Chandler asked.
Everyone laughed at that.
"Ross is too straight for that," Quinn said. "Like, you look at him and you know there's no way that man is even slightly gay."
"I don't know if I'm offended by this or not," Ross replied.
"What is it?" Chandler yelled, desperate to figure out what it was that he did that made people, and more specifically women it seemed, think he was gay.
"Okay, I-I don't know," Monica answered him. "You-you just... you have a quality."
"Yes right!" "Exactly." The girls agreed with the brunette.
"Oh, oh, a quality, good, because I was worried you guys were gonna be vague about this." And he rose up from the couch to bring his empty plate to the sink.
The phone rang at that moment, Monica answering it. "Hello? Oh Rachel, it's Paolo calling from Rome," she handed the phone to her roommate. The blonde walked away from the living room for more privacy.
"So he's calling from Rome! I could do that," Ross complained. "Just gotta go to Rome."
Rachel ran back to the kitchen with the phone extended towards her. "Monica, your dad just beeped in but can you make it quick 'cause I'm talking to Rome."
"Hey dad, what's up?" She asked when the phone was back in her possession. She waited a few seconds before mumbling an "Oh God." She turned to her brother to inform him of the news. "Ross, it's Nana."
