Sophia had been there when the Diggorys came to see Harry, she'd felt awful. But Mrs Diggory had simply hugged her and thanked her for making Cedric so happy,
She'd returned to the common room later that day, everyone's eyes were on her. They all looked at her pitiful, whilst she'd kept her hookups with Cedric a complete secret, everyone knew they used to date and everyone thought there was something between them after the second task,
Everyone was right, everyone knew he liked her and everyone knew she liked him, except for her.
"Stop staring!" Hermione had shouted and quickly brought Sophia up to the dorms, Bree and Eileen had approached to check on her but quickly left after Hermione shook her head, "I have something that won't make anything better... but it might give you a good laugh" Sophia looked at Hermione confused as she pulled out a jar with a beetle in it,
"Mione, what is that..."
"Rita Skeeter" Sophia's eyes widened and she did let out a laugh, then another and another, but before long, the laughs turned to sobs and Hermione encased her in a hug, "I know, and I'm so sorry..." she whispered, there was nothing anyone could do to cheer her up. Fred kept his arm around her anytime they were in the common room.
Hermione, Ron, Fred and George all snapped at people when they stared too long at her or Harry. So did Bree and Eileen. And she was told Emberlynn did too.
A few days had passed and Sophia truly felt like she couldn't cry anymore, it was impossible. She'd wanted to cry but couldn't, all her tears had been used up,
"Soph..." Harry started as they were left alone in the common room one night,
"Yeah...?" She looked over at him, they'd been through a lot together, she'd nearly died with Harry more times than she could count, but she loved him and would fight with him to the death,
"Voldemort... he mentioned you.... To your dad" she stared back confused, Voldemort had talked about her. To her father?
"What did he say?" She asked, curious.
"He said one of your father's failures was raising a blood traitor daughter who was friends with me, other blood traitors and... you know the word...." her eyes widened, Voldemort knew about her. And he'd told her father about how much he clearly didn't like her, the summer was going to be difficult. "What's a bloodtraitor?"
"Someone who's of magical blood but doesn't subscribe to blood purity nonsense" she explained, Harry nodded slightly,
The feast wasn't the normal feast. Black banners hung in there. It was a memorial for Cedric, Fred instantly put his arm around her as they walked into the hall. And Sophia could feel everyone's eyes glance over to her at least once,
"I would like you all to raise your glasses to Cedric Diggory" they all did so, and Sophia could feel the tears streaming down her face, Fred clung onto her, "Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities which distinguish Hufflepuff house" Sophia felt Fred rubbing her arm, trying to comfort her, "he was a good and loyal friend, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all" everyone's eyes moved to Sophia and Harry, "whether you knew him well or not" her tears continued to fall, "I think you deserve the right, to know how it came about" Sophia stared confused at Dumbledore, "Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort" shock and horror filled the room as Dumbledore continued to explain how the ministry refused to acknowledge this.
Everyone looked horrified, then Sophia caught a glimpse of her brother, he was muttering something. Anger filled her and she watched and Harry grew angry too.
Dumbledore then spoke about how Harry had escaped Voldemort and they all raised a glass to him,
"Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should could come when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy. Remember what happened to a boy who was good and kind and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory"
