I've travelled too far in these shoes to have another person who's never worn them advise me of how to walk in them.
I've worn them down; I've gotten used to them, the soles are stained and the laces are limp.
I've taken chances with them, I've stepped in the mud, I know how they stain.
My shoes and your shoes are maybe similar, but never the same. Your shoes may have walked for years or they could have walked just a day.
You wear yours and I will wear mine. You can try them on, but it will feel different; you don't know the whole journey these shoes have endeavored, you just see where they are right now.
You do not have my feet and maybe we don't wear the same size so they might seem uncomfortable or even feel better than your own shoes.
These shoes are mine though, nonetheless. My shoes will not be tightened for your feet. My shoes will remain on me until I want to make a change or get a new pair. We just have different styles, different ages, and different paths. So I will wear my shoes how I need to, without any hesitation. I won't stand by listening to your input on how to wear my shoes. I've travelled in them enough to know how they can move.
