(Georges pov)

"Look" Clay said from behind George.
George slowly turned around, fearing the worst. But what he saw wasnt what he expected.
Clay was standing in the ruins a few meters infront of George, in his arms was a small grey cat, yellow eyes meeting brown ones. George walked up to them.
Reaching out one of his hands and placing it on Luca's head, gently rubbing his thumb against the fur.
"Where was he..?" George asked quietly.
"Over there" Clay replied and pointed.
George looked in the direction Clay was pointing in.
"Thats where the living room was, where me and Luca most likely where." George mumbled with a small smile.
"Uh, you two can live with me and Patches if you want... I mean if you dont have anywhere else to go..." Clay mumbled.
"You sure.?" George replied quietly as he looked up at Clay.
"Yeah, itd be nice with some company" Clay chuckled.
"Yeah... thanks" George mumbled as he took one last look at the ruins of his home.
They caught eye contact for a second, George was just now realising how much taller Clay was than himself. Not to mention his currently wet locks.
Clay moved Luca into Georges arms as they walked back to the car.
Clay got in the drivers seat and George got in the passenger seat with Luca in his lap, and the photo still towards his chest.
George leaned against the window as Clay began to drive.
The car ride was quiet, but it for once wasnt an awkward silence. It was nice, it felt as if they had know each other forever.
"Im sorry, George. It was my fault" Clay suddenly spoke.
"What? No, theres no way it was your fault. I probably just left the stove on or something like that" George replied as he looked at Clay who had a facial expression filled of guilt.
"If I would have driven you home earlier. Or if I didnt invite you over at all..." Clay mumbled.
"Well, I was the one who agreed to it" George replied.
Luca covered his ears with his paws, like he usually did when George was talking about Clay.
"But-"
"No more buts, Clay. It wasnt your fault." George said, this time his voice was clearer.
Clay looked over at George, then back at the road. He chuckled.
"What?" George asked.
"I think Luca is already giving up on us" Clay chuckled again.
George looked down at the cat who still had his paws over his ears and his eyes shut closed.
