Chapter 34

— Ella POV —

We arrived at my house, we came from the police office. We filed a complaint and a restraining order against Derek. I just want to drop on my couch and watch formula 1. 'Okay babe just get comfortable, I will get you something to drink and eat.' I am so lucky to have Lottie by my side. She comes back with some drinks and snacks and cuddles next to me.
'Lottie, thank you again for coming for me. I love you so much.' 'Always, Ella! I will always come for you.'

We watch the race, Carlos was doing great. I really missed him so much. The whole Derek thing made me realise something. I never missed Derek the way I miss Carlos. Tears streaming down my cheeks. 'Hey hey Ella what's wrong? Talk to me.' Lottie hugs me tight. 'It's just I miss him so much, what did I do wrong?' 'Nothing, Carlos is just an idiot for dumping you. When the time is right you will meet the right guy.'

The race ended with Carlos on the podium, I was so happy for him. He got up on stage, he looked in the camera and threw a kiss. Great now he had to rub his love for Ana into my face. He really wasn't making this easy for me. I noticed Lottie was smiling at her phone. 'Okay spill it girl' I said to her, 'Just texting Lando, it has been going so great lately. We called this night and he was so supportive. It was great. He even asked to come to a race sometime.' Lottie looked so happy. 'Lottie I am so happy for you, you really deserve this. You really should get together sometime, then you can talk about it.'

After the race we had diner and called it a night. I was just happy this week was over.

— Carlos POV —

I was so happy with my podium place, it would have been better with Ella by my side. I had so many plans for us both. Unfortunately now I was getting ready to go to a party alone. It was a drivers party to celebrate the podium, usually they can get quite crazy.

I'm crawling into a cab, I really drank to much. I just wanted to forget her, it didn't work at all. I need to talk to her, so I grab my phone and start calling her. She doesn't pick up, so I call again. She has to pickup, I really want to hear her voice.
'Hello' she picks up, clearly she was sleeping. 'Hi mi cielo, i missed you so much. Did you see me on the podium?' I really hoped she saw me. 'Yes Carlos, I saw the sign of love you showed for your girlfriend. Thanks for bringing it up again!' She clearly was wide awake now. 'No love, you don't understand, that was for you.' I really wanted her to understand.
'Carlos, you have a girlfriend, I don't have any interest being your girl on the side. So if that was all please let me go back to sleep.'
'Ella i'm so sorry I should never have listened to him. I miss you so much.' I started crying, I really shouldn't be allowed to call when being this drunk.
'What do you mean Carlos? Listened to who?' She demands. 'Oh, I shouldn't have said that, forget I said anything. Sweet dreams my love. Love you.' And with those last words I hung up the phone.

I reached the hotel and stumbled straight into my bed. Tossing my buzzing phone next to me on the bed. I didn't take long before I was asleep.
The next day I woke up with the biggest headache, what did I do yesterday. I grabbed my phone to check the time. Oh god, what did I do, i had 5 missed calls from Ella and several messages. Did I call or text her yesterday. I checked the message, it said: 'who do you think you are! Breaking my heart and then confessing your love for me while clearly being drunk. And then just hanging up on me. I won't let you play me like this! Get your shit together and never call me again!'  

I screwed up, big time.
