Summer break 2025

— Carlos POV —

I am so nervous, I am running around making sure I have everything for my perfectly planned day. The moment I know I have everything I go over to the bedroom and try to wake up Ella. 'Good morning, I have a nice breakfast ready for you. Ready to wake up?' I push the hair behind her ears. 'Babe, why are you up so early? What breakfast in bed? What did I do to deserve that.' She asks looking up at me.
'What?' I try to look as innocent as possible, 'i'm just trying to be nice.' Ella looks at me. 'In that case I would love some breakfast.' She gets up and together we go to the kitchen. 'Hmmm your famous pancakes, this day started out perfectly. Thanks babe.'

We have a very nice breakfast I am keeping an eye on the time. We just have to leave by 10. Next on the agenda is a nice walk. We are currently staying in Madrid, so I planned a nice trip out of the city. 'Okay mi cielo go get dressed we are going for a walk.' I really hope she doesn't ask questions. 'Okay sounds like fun! I will get changed' i'm pacing the room waiting for Ella to get ready. I have never been more nervous.

We leave the house and take the car to the starting point of the track, I make sure to take my backpack with me and we can start the walk. 'Babe, are you looking forward to getting in the car again?' I have to let her question sink in because I was so caught up in my thoughts. 'Yeah sure, excited to be back on track. It's just so stressful because we are so tight on points for the championship. But I am looking forward to go back to racing. How about you still excited to go to work?' I ask her. By the way her face lights up I already know the answer, 'Carlos I love it! I still go to work with the same amount of joy as I did the first time.'

After some time we had reached the picknick spot, 'wow Carlos it's gorgeous here. What a view.' I turn around looking at her, 'how about we stop here for a little picknick?' She looks so happy, 'Carlos that's great!' I take everything out of my backpack. I have brought a blanket we can sit on. Then some champagne, glasses, strawberries, bread, cheese and jamon. 'Okay come sit down with me.'
'Carlos this is really nice of you, how romantic. This is a perfect day, thank you so much.'

We finish up on the lunch and we continue our walk. Next stop is the viewing point, we still have a 1 hour walk to go. Every step I take I get more and more nervous. We are almost there, ' wow mi cielo look at that view.' She goes to stand on the edge, with her back to me. So I take the box out of my pocket and kneel down on one knee. Because I don't reply she turns around to see why. When realisation kicks in her hands cover her mouth.
