Whispers. That's all I hear as I step inside the school. News must have gotten round quickly about last nights arrest. Getting caught on the job hasn't fazed me, more who I saw on the job has. The long brown hair with baby blue eyes. Pretty face, I vaguely remember seeing her before. Walking down the hall I flip people off who stare for too long. Why should they care what happens too a misfit like me? It's none of their freaking business.
Making my way down the corridor I saw a couple groping each other in front of my locker but as soon as they saw me they left. All of this attention might not be so bad after all. Slamming my locker door open I accidentally hit someone causing them to yelp loudly. Looking down at the now sprawled out figure I realise it's the girl from last night. The one with the eyes.
Looking down at the small, frail looking girl I put out my hand ready to pull her up but she beat me to it, being up and halfway to class by the time I put my hand out. Not wanting to let her get away I ran down the hall to keep up with her. For a little thing she sure walked fast. Placing my hand on her arm I yanked her towards me.
"You never gave me a chance to apologise for before" I say, my voice raspy and dry from just waking up 10 minutes earlier.
"I'm fine, I just really need to get to class" With that she all but ran to her class.
"Oh ok" I reply, watching her walk off before shouting "HEY SIT WITH ME AT LUNCH!" Not asking but telling her, thinking that any friends she could have wouldn't miss her that much for just 30 minutes.
Turning around I saw that the hallway was empty, meaning class has started. Checking my phone for the time I came to the conclusion that its too late to go to class and that I might as well skip.
Trying my best to not get caught I made my way out of the school, whilst zipping my favourite up my favourite black leather jacket in a feeble attempt to block out the cold, harsh winds.
Taking my phone out of my back pocket I called my best friend Danny, knowing that he'll be able to pick me up. Danny, the boy who looks like he'd mug your grandma but is actually the biggest mamas boy known to man.
Speeding in on his prized Harley he pulled up beside me, onto the curb taking off his helmet he let his black hair free, his green eyes were taking in his surroundings and his long 6 foot figure was calmly leaning on the motorbike.
"How's it going mono?" Mono my nickname from primary school, back in the days when I had one infamous eyebrow instead of two.
"Oh shut up" I replied whilst putting his spare helmet on.
"Mum said you can come back to ours for breakfast but I have to take you back to school by lunch. She thinks you miss to much" Danny said pulling out from the curb before speeding down familiar roads, eventually leading back to his place.
"Ok" I answered causing him to nod and continue driving. I can't help but wonder what it's like to have a mum and dad, having only ever lived with my dad and brothers. What it's like to have a caring, sweet motherly figure. My dad tries his best to make up for my mum and I know it's not his fault she left but I can't help always wonder what life would of been like if she stayed.
Pulling up into the cute cottage, Danny hopped of the bike and walked inside knowing that I'd follow. Making my way inside I breathed in the familiar smell of vanilla and honey, mixed with some kind of homemade cooking. Pictures of Danny and his family hung on the wall and the furniture was clean and soft. My house was always hosting some party that one of my 3 brothers liked to host.
"Cara dear it's so good to see you, it's been forever! Why haven't you been round? That father of yours better not be working you to hard!" The lovely Mrs Cross said whilst pulling me into a tight hug.
"Nah he's trying to make me leave these days" I loved working at my dads shop, getting to build and fix cars all day long is fun but what I really want to do is go into the police force. Investigating and finding missing people. My goal is to find my mum one day and I just know that my private investigator, is the way to achieve that.
