Driving home from the mall i looked into the bag, which contained the things I had brought. As I looked in the bag I wondered if it was weird, was I overstepping my mark? Are we close enough for me to do this? I've never done this before but I'm willing to try for her. Getting out of the car I looked up at Arias house, mouth hanging open at the shear size of it. The two storey monstrosity intimidated me so much that I stood there for about ten minutes feeling like a complete dag wearing paint splattered skinny jeans, my works boots and dads jumper. But it's to late to turn back now, so grabbing my bag I walk up the steps, past the columns to the double front door. I didn't even have time to knock before the door was open, revealing a hot maid.
"Ms Aria, you have company!" She yells in broken English with a thick Spanish accent.
"Coming!" Aria yells, running down the large, spiralling staircase. Seemingly somewhat surprised that she had company.
"Oh what are you doing here?" Aria asks timidly, looking like shite with oily, unwashed hair, track suit pants and an oversized jumper.
"You seemed sad earlier so I went to the mall to by girly things, we can have a girls afternoon" I say holding the bag up and sounding like an idiot.
"Ahahhaha okay follow me" she said gesturing at me to follow her but looked back at the maid.
She nods at the young girl, only a few years older than us, solemnly and the maid automatically knew to leave.
Following Aria up the staircase, I tried my best not to touch anything. Her lamps seem more expensive than my entire house. Looking around however I saw no personal touches, no odd stains with funny stories, family photos throughout the years or framed artwork from primary school. Everything although beautiful felt cold and impersonal, making me really uncomfortable.
After walking down what seemed a never ending hallway we came to a stop at simple pair of white French doors, which she opened to reveal the best bedroom I have ever seen. It reflected Aria too! With floor to ceiling book shelves, and a for poster bed, everything was soft and inviting the opposite to the rest of the home.
"Here we are" she declares, jumping onto her unmade bed, which she must of vacated to come to the door.
"So what's in the bag" Aria asks gesturing to the bag.
"Okay, I've never done this before because I've never had friends who are girls so I did some research and when girls are sad they apparently like the following: trashy rom coms, chocolate, ice cream, magazines, face masks, makeovers and candles. So we are going to change into pyjamas, put a face mask on, watch a shitty movie whilst eating ice cream and chocolate" I say, staring at her now bewildered face.
"Thank you Cara" she says like she wants to say more but is unable.
"It's all good. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to by the way I just want you to know I'm here for you" I say turning around whilst placing the things neatly on a table.
"I appreciate it. I'm going to go get change" She says walking into her walk in closet.
"I would suggest showering before you do that. No offence" I say hoping I didn't offend but needing to bring out one more surprise whilst she's in there.
"Okay, I'll shower" she answers suspiciously.
As soon as she was in the bathroom and I heard the shower run, I called the surprise, hoping she'll agree to come.
"Hello"
"Hi Olivia I was wondering if you'd like to help me with operation cheer Aria up?"
"I guess, she did seem sad on the bus this morning. Where do I need to go?"
"I'll text you the address just get here as soon as possible!"
"Ok see ya in a minute"
Hanging up I quickly ordered pizza before changing in the pyjamas Ruby and I brought at the mall. They were defiantly nothing I would normally buy but Ruby pushed me into buying them. The short pink silk play suit showed made me look like a fairy floss stick. The doorbell soon rang, making me run down the stairs and open the door revealing Olivia and the pizza guy.
"What are you wearing?" Olivia blurted.
"Hi to you too. How much will it be?" I answer Olivia whilst asking the Pizza guy.
"Um $22.50" He said awkwardly shuffling his feet and pushing the pizzas into my arms.
"Thanks" I answer, giving him the money and pulling Olivia into the house before running upstairs.
"Ok quickly get changed into your pyjamas, then meet me in the seventh door on the left" I demand before running back into Arias room.
"CARA CAN YOU BRING ME A TOWEL, IVE BEEN YELLING FOR TEN MINUTES" I hear Aria yelling from the bathroom. Quickly grabbing a towel I threw into the bathroom before returning to setting up my ultimate sleepover surprise.
Olivia soon comes into the room in matching polka dot pyjamas, seemingly stunned by the transformation I have achieved in Arias room.
I completely covered the room with fairly lights, pillows and sheets. Quilts lined the floors and the TV was playing The Notebook. Pizza was on the floor and scented candles were lit making the room smell like cinnamon.
Aria soon walked out of the bathroom, towel drying her hair as she did so before looking up and seeing Olivia and I in the pretty blanket fort and crying.
She dropped the towel into the laundry basket beside her and came over, sitting in between the two of us.
"Thank You so much, I always thought that I never needed anyone, that all I needed was to find India's journal but then I met you guys and everything felt better. I didn't realise how sad I truly was until I met you. So thank you" with that we cuddled together, feeling closer to each other than we've ever felt before.
