The doorbell rings as I'm upstairs finishing off my hair.
"Hello, you must be Cara" I hear my Grandma say in her sweet voice.
"It's nice to meet you to, you must be Olivia's Grandma" Cara replies kind of strangely.
"I had no idea that Olivia was into girls," I hear Grandma starting to say. Agh, I stop what I'm doing. It'll have to do. I start to run as well as one can in heels down the stairs," but as long as she's happy-"
I quickly cut her off blushing slightly, "No grandma I'm not a lesbian, Tyler was just an undercover douchbag" I hug her and start dragging Cara out to the car."OMG she thought Tyler was a saint and can't see why we broke up but whatever, let's go I'm excited to party!" I explain whilst applying lip gloss. Cara looks me down as I do so.
"Is that what your wearing?" I question her raising an eyebrow. She's wearing ripped trackies, work boots and a dad jumper. I really hope she's not wearing that. It looks um- but she cuts off my thought.
"Oh no I forgot to get changed"
"Thank god" I mutter, hoping he didn't hear me. She probably did. And it doesn't take long to get to her house. Quickly she helps me get out of the car and then rushes inside leaving me out on my own. Thanks. I head inside and Maddi is frantically running around finishing stuff off. She looks like she's about to start taking food outside but then Luke comes up behind her and gives her a huge bear hug from behind. Maddi looks up, sees him and puts the food down. They start making out. I just roll my eyes. I head over to grab the food bowls and they just move over slightly. Outside, it looks amazing, they must have been busy all day. There are lights strung up everywhere and a large table stretches out across the yard. I head over to the table and put down one of the bowls of food. "Hey," I look around my shoulder. It's Aiden, "Oh, hey," I keep walking along the table and put down the second bowl of food. I turn around and he's followed a long behind me.
"Woah, you look really good tonight!" Aiden says almost shyly.
"And I don't normally?" I question him raising an eyebrow.
He gets a bit of a shock, "Well, ur, no, its, just, that-"
"I'm kidding," I giggle, "Thanks," We head back inside and people are starting to arrive. I see Aria walking around, "Hey, where were you yesterday?" She freezes and her eyes shift.
"I got to talk to Maddi," and she walks off ignoring the question.
"Ok then, that was odd," I say widening my eyes and my voice sounding like a loud whisper.
"Speaking of odd," Aiden starts to say, "Have you noticed anything different about Cara lately," he asks.
"I don't know, I haven't been around her that long," I shrug. Has she been acting differently to normal?
"Ok I just don't think she's been the same for the past few weeks, like occationally I'll catch a glimpse of sadness on her face, but then if I question it she just pushes it away,"
"Well, I'd say it's probably that she misses your Mum, why she's been looking for her," Suddenly I realise what I've said, but he looks just as panicked as I feel. He puts his hands on his head. "What?" I ask him shocked.
He brings his hands back down. "Cara's going to kill me!" And it clicks in my own head what I think he is going to say and I'm just about to say it and Cara turns up in the room. She looks at us rolls her eyes and comes over. Aiden turns away from her.
"Olivia, is Aiden holding you hostage? What does he have against you?" she whispers into my ear
"Nothing" I say firmly.
"What are you doing talking?" she ask curiously.
What do I say, I can't just say what we've been talking about. Um, "Just stuff" I say and pull Aiden away into another room, leaving Cara behind.
I pull him into another room, well at least what I thought was another room. I flick on the light and it turns out we're standing in a closet. This is really awkward. "Aiden what did you do?" I sharply whisper.
He looks shifty, and can't even look at me, "I've been seeing our Mum!" He blurts out. I knew it, he looked guilty even before he said it.
"Why wouldn't you tell her?"
"Because,"
"Don't you tell me because!" I slow down what I'm saying and say it slower, "Why didn't you tell her?"
He doesn't want to say it but it comes out in a whisper, "Because she doesn't want to see her,"
I know why she doesn't want to see her, but maybe Cara has it wrong. Maybe that's not why, "Why Aiden? Is it-"
"No it's not that. I don't even know why, but it's not that. Maybe she doesn't even care anymore. But when she first went she said never to tell Cara that's all,"
I don't know if he's lying or not, but I guess if Cara ever finds her, we'll find out. I start to head out of the closet.
"You're not going to tell her are you?" He pleads.
"I think we both have things each other need to keep secret,"
I walk back out into the other room and Cara sits by her self having a drink. I come up behind her and put my hand on her shoulder, "Hey," she freezes and then slowly turns around on the chair. Her face looks annoyed, is that because of me. "Are you ok?" I ask with caution.
"Are you lying to me? Keeping something from me? Are you and Aiden a-"
"NO! No, I mean no. We're not,"
She looks me down, "Ok...." I don't think she believes me.
"Cara we're not! I mean you're right, he likes me but we're not,"
"I told you he was hitting on you the other day,"
"Yeah yeah I know,"
"So you promise you're not keeping anything from me?"
"Nah,"
"You swear,"
I gulp, "I swear,"
