"Ugh, fine," she exclaimed in frustration, slamming the table. "My father signed an agreement stipulating that I, his own daughter, must prove my worth within six months to become the heir of the Jung Empire. Failing that, the entire business will be handed over to my husband, who happens to be none other than Kim Fucking Taehyung. I have a strong suspicion that he orchestrated my father's accident to gain control of the billion-dollar empire. If I fail, mark my words, Jungkook, I'll dismantle everything, and that worthless fiancé of mine will find himself six feet under."
"What do you mean?" Jungkook asked, his shock evident.
"I mean that anyone who attempts to mess with me will face consequences. Kim Taehyung and his father might have orchestrated the agreement, though I can't be entirely certain. However, my secretary, who also happens to be my attorney, thoroughly reviewed the document and diligently identified its loopholes—"
Just then, the alarm interrupted, indicating that their allotted time for the appointment had elapsed. Jungkook struggled to comprehend the information Yewon had just disclosed. None of it seemed to make sense, leaving him uncertain about what conclusions to draw. Yewon's words sounded erratic, as if she had lost sight of right and wrong. She boldly admitted to being capable of potential harm, even to her fiancé, Kim Taehyung.
Jungkook feared her temper. This woman, usually composed, now appeared to be holding back a reservoir of anger. With specific targets for her rage, she seemed relentless. Jungkook couldn't confirm the validity of the claims regarding Kim Taehyung's alleged attempt to harm her father, but he could sense a fiery determination for dominance in her eyes.
"Oh dear, Dr. Jeon, our scheduled time has come to an end. But you know what? How about we meet outside of your regular working hours?" She swiftly rose from her chair and reached for her cellphone, seemingly checking something. In that moment, Jungkook couldn't help but notice a revolver in her purse, a surprising departure from her usual demeanor, as she had never shown an inclination towards weapons before.
Witnessing her sudden change in behavior left Jungkook bewildered. He remained silent, grappling with his inner conflicts, and didn't immediately respond to her proposition.
"Dr. Jeon?" she called out, attempting to draw his attention.
"Huh, hmm, yeah, sure. Let's meet," he stammered nervously, agreeing despite the lingering unease.
"Oh, okay. When are you free?" she asked casually, as if the events of the past hour hadn't transpired.
"Let's meet tonight," Jungkook declared, feeling a determination to unravel the mysterious situation. An unsettling sense of danger hovered in the air, and he struggled to discern whether it was a warning from his instincts or a figment of his imagination.
"Tonight? Sure, that works for me. I'll text you the place and time. My attorney will join as well," she mentioned matter-of-factly.
The raven-haired man nodded in response, concealing any tension in his demeanor.
After Yewon left his office, Jungkook released a weary sigh. He couldn't fathom what was going on. Why did Yewon's eyes reveal an unsettling madness that left him bewildered? The thought that Taehyung might be in danger troubled him deeply. In that moment of fear and confusion, he recalled Jin's warning from the cafe, suggesting that "Kim Taehyung is bad news." However, Jungkook questioned the validity of this claim because the Taehyung he knew was vastly different – vulnerable and in need of affection. The world, on the other hand, painted a contrasting picture, depicting Taehyung as a manipulative, wealthy individual willing to do anything for money. Unsure whether he was being naive or if the world had embraced a false narrative about Kim Taehyung, Jungkook grappled with conflicting perceptions.
