Thalia's POV

I am completely speechless right now. Micola's father is incredibly attractive; it's almost ridiculous. Their relationship is so heartwarming and familiar, like the one I have with my own father. I've been staying in New York for two weeks, taking a personal leave of absence from college. Luckily, I can still turn in my assignments online. It's a relief that my father's health has improved significantly. When Micola mentioned she was back home in New York, she invited me to an event tonight. To be honest, I wasn't too keen on going, but my mom convinced me to get out of the house. And now here I am, wearing a stunning gown that hugs my body perfectly.

Micola's father approached her and her mother with a smile, his eyes fixed on me. I couldn't help but feel nervous as he was at least 50 years old, yet undeniably attractive. "Good evening, ladies. You three look stunning tonight. And who is this lovely young lady?" He turned his gaze towards me, causing my heart to skip a beat. His presence had an inexplicable effect on me. I eagerly offered my hand to shake his.

"I'm Thalia Arnold, it's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Romano." My mind wandered to the silky texture of his skin as I hoped he would take my hand in his.

He did take my hand, his grip firm yet gentle, as if he were cradling something precious. "The pleasure is all mine, Thalia. I've heard so much about you from Micola." His voice was warm honey poured over gravel, deep and smooth with a hint of roughness that hinted at years of experience and authority. I felt my cheeks flush with a color that I was sure matched the deep red of my gown.Even though I was a light brown skin, my cheeks still possessed a red blush color. I am almost sure of it.

Mr. Romano's laughter was a rich baritone that seemed to fill the room, noticing my embarrassment. "I hope she's only said good things," he continued, his eyes twinkling with mirth experience and authority. I felt my cheeks flush with a color that I was sure matched the deep red of my gown.

"Only the best, Mr. Romano," I managed to say, my voice steadier than I felt. I tried to regain my composure, reminding myself that this was Micola's father and that there was a certain boundary I shouldn't even think of crossing.

Mr. Romano released my hand but his eyes lingered on mine for a moment longer than necessary, as if he were trying to read an unspoken message written in their depths. He finally turned his attention to Micola and her mother, engaging them in light conversation. I used this opportunity to slip away, the echo of my pulse still reverberating in my ears.

The ballroom was alive with the rustle of silks and the soft murmur of the elite conversing. The chandeliers cast a warm, golden glow over the sea of elegantly dressed guests, making the jewels at their throats and wrists gleam like tiny stars. I moved through the crowd, trying to put some distance between Mr. Romano and myself.

I pressed my back against the wall and watched Micola and her mother mingle with the eligible bachelors. Eventually, I made my way to the bar to get a glass of water. As I waited in line, I sensed someone standing closely behind me. I could feel their body pressing against mine, and I knew it was that person's strong manhood. It was Mr. Romano, the father of my good friend Micola. He finally spoke, his voice familiar to me.

"I've been watching you from across the room all night," he whispered into my ear. His breath was warm and carried a faint scent of peppermint and cigar, which intoxicated me. My heart raced and I struggled to catch my breath as he stood so close to me.The proximity of Mr. Romano was unsettling, to say the least. The propriety of his approach—or lack thereof—made my skin prickle with a mixture of apprehension and an unbidden thrill. I turned slightly to face him, offering a polite yet wary smile.

With a forced lightness in my voice, I addressed Mr. Romano. "This is quite the event, with the entire city in attendance. Aren't you worried about your daughter noticing us talking?" I couldn't help but ask, intrigued by his open flirtation.

He replied with a hint of heaviness in his words, sending a shiver down my spine. "Oh, my dear Suga Pie, you are the only one who captures my interest," he said with an implication that was hard to ignore. "Your smooth, bronzed complexion and irresistible charm makes my desire burn with deep down in my soul."
