The moment I realized I helped Tylor cheat on Zach, I ran out of the practice room.
Did Tylor have some sort of unresolved issues going on with Zach that made him want to cheat? He told me to kiss him, but Tylor didn't seem like the type of person who would actively cheat on his boyfriend. That didn't change the fact that he did.
Yet, as bad as it was, I didn't care. I finally kissed Tylor. I'd wanted to for a while, but once I walked in on his "self-care routine," I craved more. But I knew I couldn't think like that. He was dating Zach, and we were just friends. There was nothing more to say about it.
"Damon!" Simon called out as he grabbed my arm, pulling me back towards him by the cafeteria entrance. "The hell are you doing?"
I yanked my arm out of his grip and glared at him. "I kissed Tylor."
"It's about time."
I rolled my eyes. "Shut up."
"Why aren't you still kissing him?"
"Because I helped him cheat on Zach."
"I'm sorry, what?"
Groaning, I leaned back against the lockers and ran my hands over my face. "You know what's extra dumb? I just realized why I tried so hard to be with Clara and why I tried to justify my feelings for Mystery. Ever since I've met Tylor, I've liked him. Now I think I love him, and because of Zach, I've been pushing my feelings for him onto other people to avoid rejection."
Simon stared dumbfounded at me, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to think of what to say. I felt like I already knew what he'd say. It was a dumb thing to do. Clara deserved better. Again with Mystery. Any of those would make sense.
Instead, he asked, "Did Tylor seriously not tell you he's not dating Zach?"
I pushed myself off the lockers and grabbed his shoulders. "What are you talking about?"
"Remember the concert you took Clara to?"
I nodded.
"They practically broke up that night. Zach has even been dating someone for the last two months."
"But... the texts. They still talk as if they're dating each other." All the times Tylor has called him babe. All the suggestive texts he'd sent to Zach. Everything pointed to them still dating.
"That's just how they text each other. I don't know!"
I shook Simon's shoulders violently. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"I thought you knew and were just being a dumbass about it." He slapped my hands off his shoulders. "He must have told you at some point. Why wouldn't he have?"
"I don't know! I'm just as confused as you are."
"But now that you know you didn't help him cheat on his boyfriend," Simon said, gesturing his hands in a "figure it out" way.
"He kissed me because he wanted to kiss me." I gasped. "Does that mean Tylor also likes me?"
Simon turned me around and pushed me towards the practice room. "Why don't you go ask him yourself, dumbass?"
My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I pulled it out, seeing a Snapchat from Tylor. "It's him."
Hey, Quinny Bear. I'm sorry if that kiss made you uncomfortable. It's been a while since I've last kissed someone, and I got carried away. I'm sorry if I scared you off. I know this musical has been stressing you out, and I didn't mean to make you more stressed out. Are we still cool?
