"Buti dumating na kayo." Saad ni Miss Mary at dinamba kami ng yakap. I really thought when Calissa said that Miss Mary is inviting us for dinner ay baka bukas pa o sa makalawa. I didn't expect it would be tonight after Calissa and my son picked me up in the school.
"Good to see you here, Rach." I said to my friend who's sitting and staring at us. She smiled and giggled. She looks different today. She's happier. Maybe because her soon to be husband will be coming home?
"Nasaan pamangkin ko?" She asked pertaining to my son.
"Nasa lolo niya, magfifishing at camping daw sila baka next week pa bumalik." Sagot ko kaya tumango naman ito. Umupo na kaming tatlo sa bilogang lamesa. Calissa's hand immediately went to my thighs. Her hand rested in it. Kinurot ko ito pero tumawa lang kaya hinayaan ko na.
"Nag-order na kayo?" I asked Rach, since they were the one who's been here first in the larsian. This is a food park with lots of barbeque stalls.
"Yes girl, hintayin na raw natin mga six months." Biro ni Rach na nagpangiti sa dalawa naming kasama pero nanatili akong seryoso ang mukha.
"Miss Mary, this is your first time in DB?"
"No, I've been here quite a few times." Miss Mary smiled at me and stared at Calissa, with a teasing grin. I smell something fishy.
"Why? This is far from the city." I probed, because I feel like this has something to do with me.
"Ask the person beside you, honey." She said in a teasing tone that earned her a mad stare from Calissa. I looked at the person beside me and nudge her hand using my thigh to get her attention.
"Because we were assessing the demographic situation in where we will build our warehouse." She said trying to look not nervous in front of me. I gave her a not convinced look and I saw she gulped.
"Sabihin mo na bff." Tudyo sa kaniya ng kaibigan niya. She hissed and scratched her head.
"We will talk about this later." She said directly to me and squeezed my thigh so I nodded my head. Mukhang walang matutulog nang maaga ngayon dahil ang dami naming kailangan pag-usapan pa.I'm still confused about everything even though I have an idea.
Dumating na ang pagkain, amoy ko na ang mabangong aroma ng pagkain. They even ordered a grilled liempo and grilled lobster which I really love. Calissa undress the hanging rice and put it in my plate and when I looked in front, I saw Miss Mary doing the same to my bestfriend. I raised my brows giving Rach a questioning look, but she avoided my gaze. This is fishy.
The dinner was cut off short because Miss Mary had an emergency and Rach went with her. I am getting suspicious from the two of them. Nandito na kami ni Calissa sa bahay ko. To be exact, we are in my room. She's currently having a shower habang ako naman ay nakabathrobe na at naglolotion. After a few minutes I heard the bathroom's door opened so I turned around to face it. I saw a goddess being wrapped by a black bathrobe and her hair is damp. Maybe she used my hair blower in the bathroom that's why it is not that wet.
She went towards my direction and hugged me. Kaya napayakap narin ako sa kaniya. I am sitting in the bed, and she is bending her body to hug me.
"I will never get tired of hugging you at the end of the day." She said as her head is in the crook of my neck. I gently caress her back.
"This is home." She whispered and I can feel her breath in my neck and that gave me a foreign feeling.
"Wag mo kong daanin sa ganito, magbihis ka na dahil mag-uusap tayo." I said and pushed her lightly. Nakinig naman ito sa akin at pumunta sa walk in closet ko dahil wala pala itong dalang damit at nasa Kandaya Resort pa. She's been renting there for almost a month now. Mayaman naman siya kaya walang problema.
When she was clothed ay ako naman ang nagbihis sa walk in closet ko. I work a black silk pajama set and she's wearing a white silk pajama set. She's looking good in my clothes. Pagkalabas ko ng walk in closet ay nakita ko siyang nakasandal na sa headboard ng kama ko. Tumabi na ako sa kaniya at yumakap. She wrapped her arms around me and kissed my temple.
"Now, talk. I want to hear everything. And I'll decide if I will still welcome you in my life." I said in a threatening tone. I felt her wrapped tighten.
"It started about when I talked to my lolo, he threatened me that he will do something in your land if ever we will still continue our relationship. I thought it was just that, but he also manipulated me to enter the politics. To follow his footstep. I agreed baby, that will save you from having a big problem." She paused so I looked at her.
"My father told me about that. That the President is hindering us in renewing our business permit. If it will not be renew, we need to shut down or the government will sue us. I'm such a fool to believe that you didn't really love me." She hugged me again dahil nakawala na ako sa bisig niya.
"I never stopped loving you. I needed to do those things in order to protect you from a bigger pain." Ani niya habang hinahaplos ang buhok ko.
"There is no bigger pain than this. To lose you over a land. When in fact we could have find a solution to it. You are a mathematician, and I was a statistician in the making, no doubt we could find the correct solution of that problem, but you chose to solve it alone. In a very easy way but one must let go. We could have a complicated way of solving but at least we both were helping each other and not letting go." Puno ng hinanakit kong saad sa kaniya. Nagsimula na namang umagos ang mga luha ko.
"I'm sorry baby. I'm sorry." She kept on saying sorry while her hands are busy wiping my tears.
"I was ready to give up the land. To let the government buy it since that what they bargained to us. I was so ready Cal, but you left me hanging." She looked at me painfully, tears are streaming in her face also. We are both crying over our past that could have been different if we stick together.
"I cannot let you do that. That land is very important in your family." Rason niya but I shook my head to disagree.
"I know this is not just about the land my lolo wants. He wants me to enter politics too. I don't want to drag you in that messy and corrupt world. Delikado ang buhay ng isang politiko. That's why I resigned after lolo died four years ago. But I couldn't comeback to you that time. Some politicians wants me dead. Since I've been shutting down their illegal businesses and they were after me. It took four years to solve almost everything. May kaaway parin ako hanggang ngayon but not as many as before." Nag-aalala ko siyang tinignan. I know politics is dirty, that's not a hidden knowledge from everyone.
"Do you have security? Let's hire security for you." I said hastily and was about to get up to call someone I knew that have security agency but she stopped me and held my face.
"I have many. You don't have to worry. Also, I have put security in you. In that way I'll be rest assured that you are safe too." She smiled at me and slowly my worries were subsiding.
"Kailan lang?"
"Since the day we ended things. I never left baby. I stayed but with some distance. But I was there always, watching you from afar. Achieving the things that you truly deserve. I was there in every milestone you have. We've been friends with your father since then when he knew that I was putting security in you. He figured it out when he tried putting security in you too." I remembered that time when my father asked me if it was okay that I'll have bodyguards but I disagreed that time so I thought it was because of me that's why he didn't push it through may iba pa palang rason.
"Everything is making sense now." I whispered to myself. She kept on caressing my face. Drying my tears.
"Sorry, it took us eight years to be with each other again." She said and gave me an apologetic look.
"This is the sweetest fruit of the eight years of agony." I uttered lowly and slowly I moved my face closer to her, when we were inch apart, she closed her eyes so as mine and then I crashed my lips on hers.
Maybe in this time we will be right for each other. We are intersected again. I hope this will be the right time for us.
I am claiming that we are intersected in the quadrant one of the cartesian plane because if not I will wage war against destiny and make everything right.
