I hate being shouted kaya napapikit na lang ako ng marinig ko ang galit na sigaw niya.
"Again, I'll let this pass. But your mayor should be accountable to all of your behaviors. So the only one who will be punished will be the class mayor." She sternly said. I smiled in happiness and relief.
I looked up and everybody is staring at me, worries envelope in their eyes. But I gave them each a smile. I can handle what punishment lies in front of me as long as they will get away from the punishment. I'm willing to endure it since I know from the very start that it is really my fault.
I looked up to my instructor in Pre-cal and MMW, she is not our adviser but she deeply cares for us. Yeah, I know she cares that's why she's about to punish me.
"Mayor, go to the DMS office after your class for this day. I'll be giving you the punishment there." She gave me a stern look before bidding goodbye and left.
I looked at my blockmates that is also looking at me. I stand up confidently and went to the front.
"Everyone I know what you are thinking, but it is fine. I'm willing to face that punishment. Let's be thankful that I'll be the only one who will face it. Hindi nadamay ang ibang officers." Panimula ko but I saw how their facial expressions didn't change. They really are worried.
"We had fun naman so worth it yung punishment. Unless you all regret it?" I asked and they gave me a small smile.
"Sino ba kasing nagsuggest na magdala ng butane at magluto rito?" Tanong ni Ana. At lahat sila tinuro ako.
"Sino bang sumupurta sa desisyon ko?" Tanong ko pabalik. Nanglalaglag na sila. The audacity, mahal ko parin naman sila.
Tinuro nila si Jini na binigyan lang kami ng nakakalokong ngiti.
"Kaya na ni mayor yan. Libre na lang natin siya ng ice cream araw-araw. Salitan tayo sa paglilibre." Sagot niya na ikinatawa namin.
Muntik na naming nasunog yung room namin dahil hindi namin namalayan na umaandar pa pala yung apoy, bigla kasing dumating yung instructor namin kaya napabayaan at ayun nasunog ang mga gamit na kalapit doon sa butane.
"Ako ang manlilibre kay mayor araw-araw pero papalagay ko sa cone at hindi sa cup para laging didilaan ni Mayor yung ice cream." Pilyang ngumiti si Ana sa akin.
"Sa harap na convenience store na ice cream dahil ang daling malusaw doon." Pinagtulungan pa ako. Inside joke namin iyon.
"Enough guys let's go home na."
Humiwalay na ako sa mga kaklase ko at pumunta sa second floor ng building namin. The DMS office or also known as Department of Mathematics and Statistics office. Pumasok na ako sa office at pumunta sa cubicle ni Ma'am Olinares.
"Good afternoon po ma'am." Bati ko sa kaniya she raised her head dahil kanina lang ay nakatutok ito sa laptop niya.
"I'm very disappointed to what you did Mayor, ikaw pa talaga ang nagpasimuno." Puna niya agad. Napayuko na lang ako. Some instructors ay napatingin na sa amin. Kilala na ako ng iba dito kaya napapahiya akong umiwas ng tingin sa kanila.
"I'm sorry ma'am." Paghingi ko ng paumanhin. She shook her head disappointingly.
"Your punishment, you'll help every instructors here as much as you can in one month. So you'll be staying here every afternoon. After your last class of the day you'll be here and stay for 4 hours. Do you understand that?" Striktang tanong niya kaya napatango na lang ako. Ma'am Olinares is kind naman pero nakakatakot kapag nagseryoso siya.
"Yes ma'am. Noted po." Sagot ko naman.
"You'll start tomorrow. You can go now." I bid my goodbye at dali-daling lumabas.
"Hoy Fuentes, napagalitan yan?" Asar sa akin ni Sir Ilag, he's my instructor sa DIS course ko.
"Wala ako sa mood makipag-asaran sir." Masungit kong saad at inirapan naman niya ako.
Naglakad na ako palayo pagkatapos magpaalam sa kaniya. I looked up and saw the sky being gloomy.
I hope this punishment will be a piece of cake. Marami na akong iniisip ayaw kong dumagdag pa ito sa alalahin ko.
But I can feel a negative energy sa pagkapasok ko nitong punishment na ito. The fact that for one month hindi na ako makapaghang out sa mga blockmates ko after our class. Ay makikita ko rin ang taong gusto ko na lang hindi sulyapan.
Baka sa patuloy kong pagsulyap sa kaniya ay tuluyan na talaga akong mahulog at alam kong hindi niya ako masasalo.
