Two storms raging

(Layla Hart pov.)

[September, cafeteria:]

We're sitting at one of the tables, doing our homework. There's a lot to do for today, and even I am not motivated enough to do it.
Despite this, Aiden doesn't seem to be concerned:

"Oh, come on! We can skip this and go and do... something! We wanted to go to the activities field, remember?"

Ben mutters without looking up:
"Sure, but this homework is almost a project. We can't just skip that."

"As strange as it sounds, I agree," Valerie admits "I forgot to do my homework for the past lessons and this would make up for it. Not this time, Aiden, sorry."

He frowns:
"You're taking all of this way too seriously."

Amaya snaps at him:
"I think you're not taking this seriously enough. As always."

"Pfft, please. It won't matter anyway. I just need my grade to be passable. There's no point in doing this extra work."
He turns to her. "And what do you mean by always?"

"I mean that you're one of the laziest people I know and never do things properly."

"Oh, sure. Says the one who always gets the best grades with no effort, right?"

For the first time, I see how Amaya gets angry.
Like, really angry.

Oh shoot. Are they going to fight now? Should we stop them before things get out of hand?!

She stands up from the table and even leaves her books, staring at Aiden.

"What do you know?" She says it in a dark tone. I've never heard her talk like that before.

Even Aiden is taken aback.
She notices how some girls look up by the table next to us and storms out of the cafeteria.

"Ams, seriously...? Ugh." Aiden runs after her.

We all look at each other.

"Should we do something?" I ask.

"This is a big one." Valerie says.

"Better let them handle it by themselves. They need this." Jian says as he doesn't even look up from his book.

"Are we really supposed to be so calm about this? Those two better not kill each other out there."

"They're siblings, Layla. They got this, believe me." He answers with a slight shrug.

I look to the door which both of them had passed through just now.

(Aiden Mason pov.)

I look where Amaya has left and notice the main doors shut.

There she is.

It's raining when I'm outside.

Ugh. I hate this weather.
Seriously though- what is her problem?
And they say I behave like a child.
Then what is all this?

I open the doors and race down the slippery stairs, almost tripping.

Where is she even going?

"Ams! Come on! ¿Por qué estás tan molesta?"
(*Why are you so upset?*)

Amaya stops running and we both stand in the rain that thunders down on us. Then she turns to me, and I'm surprised at the amount of anger on her face.
If a storm could be put into a facial expression, it would be hers.
I end my chase on the spot.
