Michelle's P.O.V
After last night's little misshap, nobody was able to sleep. Jake and Jinxx were gone and the rest of us just paced around the meeting room like zombies.
Good thing they had their bags ready to go, we're not concerned about that. It's just that they didn't have enough to train properly and we're afraid they'll have en encounter.
Andy was incredibly stressed since last night. Even more than before, if that's possible. He wouldn't stop pacing around and scribblings things down as... notes I guess.
C.C had probably bitten his nails out by now. He wouldn't stop chewing them out worry. Poor child, he had one of the best powers and was put in the front line of battle often. He had a lot of responsibility on him. That scared him, I know.
Ashley was trying to appear chill, like none of this was bothering him. He sat on a chair with his feet up on the table, drawing smiley faces in his journal.
He wanted us to think he wasn't scared. But we knew obviously, we all knew.
Me? Oh me. I was in a state of denial. No this wasn't happening. No this wasn't a bad thing. And no we weren't totally unprepared for this. This was not a surprise and I wasn't terrified for what came next.
No, I didn't want to be safe in my home with my parents. No, I didn't feel like my abilities were totally useless at this point. No, I didn't want to run to Andy and cry in his arms. No, I didn't know Andy was as scared as I was. No, I wasn't terrified for Jinxx and Jake.
No. Because this was all a dream and I would wake up in three... two...
Andy's P.O.V
Michelle was on a chair squeezing her eyes shut and then opening them again. Everytime she opened them she looked disappointed at her hands and tried again.
She hadn't said a word since last night.
I decided to sit down on a chair since my legs were killing me from all that pacing and threw the piece of paper I was holding on the table.
Nothing was going as planned.
"Let's push this thing out shall we?" I asked tapping a fist on the table.
Everyone looked up from their own state of emergency and nodded. No words, just simple nods of agreement.
"Why?" Chuppy asked finally coming to help by removing the chairs.
"Because it's our job to create a space in which the survivors can live and train. And this meeting room is our only spot available." I explained. "Ash, come help me push this out the door."
The table wasn't heavy. I mean it wasn't one of those expensive tables, just a simple wooden one with six chairs. It wasn't much work pushing it out the door but getting it through the narrow hallway was a struggle.
Once we did get it out we set it outside behind the building and left the chairs in the meeting room. Now, the problem was to find blankets or mattresses or something for the survivors to sleep on.
We obviously didn't have any to spare though. I mean, Michelle and I shared a bed for God's sake. So, we decided to wait for Jinxx's arival and see what he could do.
There still were no words from anybody in the team. All traces of fun we had ever had in this place seemed to have been erased. Yesterday's mud fight, the competition between us all in the piles ot rubble. All gone.
It was killing me to see everyone like this. But I didn't know what to say.
We were now all sitting outside in the grass patch just mindlessly looking at each other. I had my arm around Michelle's shoulders and C.C was laying down on the grass. Ashley just leaned against the wall of the building.
"Okay why the silence?" I gave in.
Ashley looked up from the wall. "I have nothing to say." He said simply.
"For once in my entire life, me neither." Chuppy commented.
Michelle just shrugged by my side. I took a deep breath and looked at them all. "Aw come on. You guys all know we can do this. We've done it before and we'll do it again." I said. "F.E.A.R. won't steal what burns in us. We're the rebels and we will stand up for what we believe in, even if that means standing alone."
"I know that, Andy. Don't you think we know? But we're still human and this is scary." Ashley said. "I believe we can get through this and see the fruit of our hardwork blossom, but it was so unexpected. I can't finish processing what's going on."
I looked over at Chuppy who had both hands covering his face. "What about you Chupps?"
"I don't know." He said. "I'm scared but confident. I'm hopeless but hoping." A sigh escaped him mouth as he sat up. "I want Jake and Jinxx to be okay."
I sighed and looked down at Michelle. Her eyes were closed as she clutch my shirt. She was probably the most scared of us all.
"We all want them to be okay C.C, and they will. They're strong, brave, and powerful." I encouraged.
I placed a kiss on Michelle's forehead that made her eyes flicker open. She gave me a small smile and my heart softened a bit.
"That's the spirit." I whispered. "Please guys, it breaks my heart to see you guys breaking down. We'll get through this, even if it's the last thing we do."
