Predictable and yet shocking

-I'm so glad that you finally woke up my baby." Said mom as she squeezed me tightly in her arms, which felt both very relaxing and soothing, but also very embarrassing as Arthur was sitting only a meter away while chatting with Gramps.

-You're starting to repeat yourself mom." I nagged in a friendly tone as I tried to slide my way out of her hug.

-Do you not know how worried sick I was?!" She loudly reminded me, as I did feel bad for making them worry that much about me. "I cried my eyes out for almost two whole months as all the healers repeated that there was nothing to do!"

Feeling her arms press even harder around me, I gave up on my attempt to escape and simply accepted that I would feel humiliated whenever Art looked at me and instead started enjoying my mother's warm embrace.

-How did you even get her to wake up brat?" Asked Gramps with a genuinely intrigued tone as he leaned closer to the human boy with an expression that made it abundantly clear that he was waiting to make fun of Arthur based on his answer.

-Turned out you just had to ask." He answered with an overconfident smirk like what he did was trivially easy, all while thinking he got away from any possible mockery.

-And caress my cheek." I added with a wide, vicious smile as I stared straight at Arthur while he gave me a frustrated smile.

-Oh my, it looks like little Arthur is a bit more ambitious than I thought." Commented mom as Art looked away to avoid eye contact, or maybe to stop us from seeing that he was blushing.

-Come on brat, don't be shy!" Loudly laughed Virion as he smacked the boy's shoulder with enough force to dislocate it.

-Ouch!" Yapped Arthur as he almost fell down his chair. "Are you trying to break my arm ?" He asked in a tone that was somewhere between shocked and trying to get the conversation to move on to another topic.

-Is that little tap enough to make a mighty B rank adventurer fall over?" Teased Gramps as Art retorted that he wasn't ready to take a hit out of nowhere. "I'm sure the little one will hit ya much harder if you keep answering her letters a month late!"

Continuing the argument back and forth on how hard I could hit Art and how much he could withstand, I found the scene rather fun to witness as I hadn't thought that I would see anything like this for a couple more years.

Feeling slightly thirsty after two months of coma I turned around to the small plate that had been placed on the nightstand right next to my bed and, specifically at the glasses of water on top.

Although I could have conjured some water using mana, it wouldn't have been very practical to actually drink it without looking like an idiot.

-We both know this argument is pointless now." Answered Arthur in a dismissive tone as I tried to extend my arm to reach the cup, only to be stopped in my tracks by mom's firm grip.

Trying to wiggle my arm a few centimeters closer to my target, it was clear that I was far out of reach as the room fell in an odd silence.

-I-I'm sorry." Apologized Arthur in a tone that suddenly felt very solemn as I felt mom's grip tighten even more around me, pulling me further away from my goal.

Realizing that I wasn't going to get anywhere with my body alone, I focused on the desk to create a current of wind that'd pick up the cup and bring it to me.

-It's okay brat, we... we still need to speak to her about it." Answered Gramps in a similarly serious tone, as I started feeling like the room had grown weirdly tense. I however couldn't focus on it because I was already far too busy creating my wind current using mana, which was proving far more difficult than usual.
