Quite the opposite, actually

-THAT PRICK RUINED EVERYTHING!" Screamed Tessia as another wave of wind billets hit the stone wall I had raised.

-With all due respect, princess, you are repeating yourself." I said in a rather uninterested tone.

-All the romantic moments I had carefully crafted for her, gone to waste!" She shouted as a blade of wind severed the wall, I had made clean in half as I continued to avoid and hide away from the furious storm of vines, ice javelins, fireballs and metal spikes Tessia had become ever since entering the training ground.

-Like I just said, you are still repeating yourself. And, at risk of repeating myself, but they did kiss so I don't get where the problem is." I answered after casting a combined wind and earth spell to create a heavy dust cloud to obstruct her field of view.

-You don't get anything about love! You're the worst person to have a conversation about romance with!" She yelled as I barely avoided two blobs of a green oozing liquid that melted the tip of my sleeves.

-If you let me go, I'll gladly get someone more qualified." I answered with a smirk on my face.

-No, this is your punishment for being an idiot!" She yelled while shooting more and more spells at me.

Pulling out Dawn's ballad from my heart shaped dimensional ring, I cut down a couple of earth, ice and wooden projectiles before putting it back in my ring.

"You cheated papa." Scolded Sylvie while eyeing me from the side of the room.

'It fine, she's too mad to notice either way." I answered as I opened my mouth to speak once again: "I thought that getting beat up this morning was my punishment."

-I'll keep punishing you until you properly apologize!" She aggressively explained while using her magic to erect a field of metal pikes in my general vicinity.

Leaping a few meters up to avoid them, I focused on Tessia's next move, only to see her kneeling on the ground, her hands flat against the ground as her eyes quickly locked on to me.

"Shit, it was a trap" I thought to myself as I glanced down and saw two enormous roots shoot from the highest earth pikes and rush toward me.

Guessing that she wanted to grab my legs and lock me in place to follow with a barrage of attacks, I had to find a counter right now.

Casting long range spells to intercept the roots would be rather difficult for me as an augmenter and probably wouldn't do much against such thick logs.

The other option would be to wait for them to make contact, which would let me use my magic much more efficiently but would also give Tess enough time to execute her follow-up attack.

So, I would just find another way.

Creating a sharp boulder in my hands, I threw it towards Tessia along with a powerful gust of wind to hopefully knock her out, or at least distract her from the spell.

Feeling the roots grab my ankles and start pulling me down, I didn't waste a second and covered my lower legs in fire to burn the plants.

Seeing her spell start to burn, I smiled as I prepared myself to land and make a mocking remark, only to notice a trail of fire quickly climbing up her vines before suddenly extending to the side and wrapping around the entire thing.

Although her fire was burning her own plant, it was also burning me with much more intensity than I was burning the root with forcing me to cast a mix of earth and water to extinguish the fire on my leg all while the other root was left completely unbothered and was still puling me down into the spikes.
